Compositor, productor i músic que va néixer el 6 de gener de 1966 a Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Índia. Fill de un compositor de música per a cine. La seva carrera com a músic va començar l’any 1991 composant per a anuncis publicitaris a la televisió de la Índia. L’any 1992 va composar la banda sonora de la pel·lícula Roja, dirigida per Mani Ratman, i va guanyar el premi a la millor música en el National Film Awards. La seva música té influències de compositors clàssics, romàntics, de la música carnàtica i de compositors de pel·lícules com K. V. Mahadevan o Vishwanathan-Ramamoorthy. És un dels artistes de major èxit de tots els temps. Ha venut més de 200 milions d’àlbums i ha contribuit notablemente a la modetnització de la música hindú contemporània. Ha col·laborat en diverses causes solidàries i humanitàries.

La Banda sonora del film composada en només 20 dies va guanyar dos premis Òscar l’any 2008. És un bon disc de música hindú exòtica, rítmica, discotequera, ballable, ètnica… una explosió de color i alegria. Dedicada especialment a la classe de 2n de la Índia. No us perdeu el videoclip, ni la coreografia que van muntar els de 2n… Senzillament genial. Namaste!
