Next Friday, January 15th AT 10:00 (Sala d’actes), all 1 batxillerat students are going to participate in a theatrical performance about sex and relationships. The play is performed by the company Blue Mango and it is a Forum Theatre play.
Forum Theatre is a type of theatre developed in Brazil by Augusto Boal as part of his “Theatre of the Oppressed”. It is a style of theatre in which the spectators become actors, they are known as “spec-actors”. A short play is presented in which the protagonist is being oppressed on some way.
After watching the play once it will be repeated and the audience will be invited to stop the play when they see a moment they want to change. The members of the audience (the spec-actors) can then come on the stage and play the part of the protagonist and attempt to change their situation. There are no right answers; the spectators can try different methods to see if they can change the situation for the better.
If you have any comment about this performance, you can leave a message to this post. We hope you’ll have a good time!

In Search of a Midnight Kiss shows us Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. Wilson, a twenty-nine-year old guy who has just had the worst year of his life, is new to Los Angeles, has no date, no concrete plans and every intention of locking the doors and forgetting the last year ever happened. That is until his best friend, Jacob, browbeats him into posting a personal ad on Craig’s List. When Vivian, a strong-willed woman hell bent on being with the right guy at the stroke of midnight responds, a chaotic, sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching journey through the black and white streets of L.A. begins. In the waning hours of the year, emotional vulnerability and bitterly honest humor seem to be waiting around every corner.
On Thursday 22nd of October, all the ESO students from IES Ítaca are going to Can Massallera to see the play FOOD FOR THOUGHT, by the company Moving On.
1- 2 ESO: 9:00 to 11:00
3-4 ESO : 11:30 to 13:30
This play invites us to know about food, meals and traditions from the anglosaxon world. Here you have a short summary of the play:
Bob and Harry haven’t seen each other in years. The two old friends have been chasing their own dreams and projects. Harry has a restaurant that, like many of his projects, isn’t exactly a booming success. Bob comes back from Hollywood to recover a debt from Harry and she finds him running a restaurant that doesn’t work and with many economic problems. If Bob wants to get her money back she will have to work with Harry again to build a working, profitable restaurant. With no food or drink, they can only rely on the help of the audience. Together we will all try and convert a fantasy into a good business.
