Once upon a time…
- Sunday, 28th September 2.014
We arrived in Ezcaray at 7 o´clock in the evening.
The train was fantastic and the bus was very safe, because the road was new.
The teachers and the school from Astúries are excellent. They are from Tineo, a small town like Térmens.
The hostel is called “Albergue Molino Viejo” and this is new too.
In the evening, we played different games to know each other and in the bedrooms we had lots of problems, because they had to make the bed.
- Monday, 29th September 2.014
It was a beautiful day in our hostel.
Our bedrooms are in the 2nd floor and it is very warm at night!
Each activity starts with a big circle and then we begin with the classes. There are 4 groups mixed with Astúries students: Pine, Oak , Beech and Walnut.
We learnt about WATER CYCLE ( Evapouration, Condensation, Precipitation and Collection).
After we went to the river to pick stones and in the middle of the trip we played a game.
At lunch time we ate lentils, sausages and peach. But the lentils are better in our school.
In the afternoon, we made 4 water experiments:
– Different music sounds with water bottles: “Jingle jungle”
– Vinegar + Baking soda= BLOW BALLOON.
– Fresh Water= Sink EGG and Salty Water= Float EGG.
– Air pressure against water in the glass.
Moreover, we decorated our stones and we played a game called ” Indoor Challenge”.
Before the dinner, we had to do our PROJECT WITH OUR STUDENTS ( Water and our homes) for an hour and half.
At the dinner time, we ate fish soup, pork and yoghurt.
Finally, we played a BINGO GAME with the new words.

- Tuesday, 30th September 2.014
During the classes we worked about our earth: parts and history. Also we talked about different countries and nationalities; example:
“Marcelino is an Asturian student. He is from Astúries.”
After the break and the snack, we played a game called BIG QUIZ (Run – Question – Run – Answer).
In the afternoon, we drew a HUGE MAP in 4 groups: Asia, Europe, Africa and America ; Monitor Aida took a great photo. We are around the world.
For the snack we ate a long “entrepà de xoriço roig”. The snack box was empty at the end.
We danced a lot with musical games ( Stop music and copy rhythms).
At night we played a game called MONITOR HUNT. It was very difficult to find them, because it was very dark and we were scared.
- Wednesday, 1st October 2.014
It was difficult to wake up in the morning.
In the classes we worked about the FAUNA: vertebrates & invertebrates, description of animals, different habitats and endangered animals.
After the break, we played a game called WILD ANIMALS GYMKHAMA:
– Snatch the bacon: crabs against penguins ( Joc del mocador).
– Ball + elimination (El cementiri).
– Animal alphabet.
– Paper & Spoon ( Cullera i ou).

In the afternoon, we went to the SANTA BARBARA HERMITAGE at the top of a small mountain between Oja Valley. We saw marvelous countrysides and lots of cows( The students from Astúries were very happy, but we were scared).Let’s have a look!
Do you know that RIOJA means Río Oja? ( Río + Oja= Rioja).
Moreover we went shopping in Ezcaray and at night we watched a film called ” Simpson Movie”, because it was a Movie Night.

- Thursday, 2nd October 2.014
Now we know the daily routines and firstly we worked about FLORA.
It depends on the group we did lessons different ways: picking flowers, making a big poster, drawing flowers or flowers artcrafts. But everybody learnt the parts of a flower: petal, sepal, stem, root, leaf, filament, style, ovary and anther. And we watched a video about: what do the plants eat? and the spelling of P-H-O-T-O-S-Y-N-T-H-E-S-I-S.
After the snack we went to the park next to the river and we picked leaves to make a LEAF BOOK and we found LOTS OF CHESTNUTS ( Astúries students told us different ways to cook them!).
In the afternoon we made a beautiful leaf book and played others games: Olympic Games, Stop the bus…
AHHHHH! It was SCARY NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were very excited, because the monitors were dress up and hidden everywhere.
- Friday, 3rd October 2.014
Our last day in Ezcaray started with classes about:
HUMAN IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENT
Also we played different games:
– Poster Game: Questions & Answers about water pollution, garbage dumped, pollutant elements, killed birds and fish,…
– Recycling ( Very funny game!!!). In this we had to classify rubbish in these categories: PAPER ( Biscuit wrapper,…), PLASTIC (Water bottle ,…), ORGANIC (Grass cutting,..), METAL ( Tuna tin,..) and TOXIC ( Engine oil,..).
In the afternoon, we were INVENTORS.
Because we looked for around the hostel these materials: cardboard, toilet roll, string, straw, tissue, balloons, glue and plastic bag and we wrote the instructions to build a DEVICE. This device stood the EGG DROP without breaking the egg.We invented fantastic devices, but there were some broken eggs.
During the week we practised our play called ” Thank you, RIVER” and this day we showed to the other school and our Asturian friends told us Flora, Fauna, Food and Traditions from their ” Asturias Patria Querida”. At the end we exchanged a present with them.
At night, there was DISCO. We danced a lot and said BYE to our friends and LOTS AND LOTS OF TEARS !!!
*Everyone had the luggage ready in the morning.
AND THAT’S ALL!!!!
