University of Belles Arts

dsc_0076lwSome days ago, we went to visit Salvador Juanpere, at the University of Belles Arts.

First, he guided us through that place, where he teaches to future artists, and he told us a little bit about the history of that university.

I was surprised to see that on the walls, wardrobes, doors, trees.. there were a lot of exhibitions of art from the students in their free time, a spontanean exhibition of art. I liked it so much!

Then, after seeing how, many students work on different projects, we went to a class of our artist, Salvador. A girl and a boy presented their projects. the girl presented two videos, a video about a light effect, and another one about the missing of the family and the home when you’re far away. We comment on what we felt when we saw those videos.

The boy presented a sculture, but we hadn’t enough time to comment it.

The visit was really interesting.

A day in the world of art

dsc_0050lwOn Wednesday 10 March, three weeks ago, students who will study plastic arts and Salvador’s Project of the stairs visit the Faculty of Belles Arts where Salvador teaches. He showed us what he teaches to his students.

When we went to the Faculty we were very surprised about this place because it is a very different environment it we compare this our school.

In the Faculty there are only people who like or that want to work in this, not like in high school, where many of us thinks it is compulsory education.
During our visit we saw the classes, most of the classes were workshops, they had different workshops for different things such as sculptures, paintings, etc…
In some of these workshops we found some students doing their Project and one of them told us what he was, doing, show he did it, and so forth.

While we were visiting the university, I saw many things that I liked.

At the end of the visit, we went to Salvador’s class, where he teaches and organizes other tasks such as videos, sculptures…
Salvador explained to his students our project, the project about the ladder, to try to make our small size ladder. Salvador began to explain how we developed it to the project with a high school, secondly we decided what stairs we were going to choose and finally we were made plans for the ladder AutoCAD program, which seemed.

I liked the visit, I had a different idea of what a faculty was or how the classes of faculty were. I thought all classes were like college classes or as a drawing workshop and so on.
I also liked how Salvador spoke to his students about the project. He seemed very happy and very excited to work and I hope we succeed in our project and I also hope he can do more projects with us again.

Visiting the art university in Barcelona

dsc_0002lwLast week we visited the art university in Barcelona. When we entered I saw a fresco on the wall and Miquel told me that it was a difficult artwork because in fresco you don’t have to do a mistake when you paint.

Then we went with Salvador, and we started the visit. As we went up the stairs I recognized the big painting on the wall; it was “Guernica” from Picasso. In the building there was a shop with drawing materials, showrooms and a lot of classes (for example we saw a photography class).

In another building (older than the first) we saw a room where students make molds with special machines. Salvador and Miquel told us that before they had been here to had classes when they were students. We went out to a free space where students modelled their sculptures, I saw some sculptures of the parts of the body , like lips, hands, a face…etc

After that, we met the students that Salvador teaches in the UB and we entered a spacious room. A student exposed a work with two videos. The title of the work was “Shoes” and it was about the isolation and privacy of people.

Finally, Salvador explained our project to his students with a power point presentation.

In my opinion the visit was exciting because it was the first time that I visited the university.

One day at the University

dsc_0052-bLast Wednesday, 9th of March, my partners of art class and me went to the UB, to the arts University in Barcelona.

We went there by subway and we arrived there at 11 o’clock, more or less. In the hall, I watched a big TV in the wall that showed some spots. We were waiting instructions while some students stared at us. “Had they never seen some children before?”, I thought. But well, I suppose it’s not usual to see children at the Universtity.

Then, we went to the garden next to the bar. Some of us went there and bought breakfast. In the garden where we were waiting to Salvador, there were a lot of people.

dsc_0072-bWhen Salvador arrived at the garden, he showed us some of the classes, pictures, a shop where the students can buy the material, some of the students’ sculptures and works, and an annex with a lot of tools. There was also a class that was in the street. The students cut some rocks and they were making forms and sculptures. There was one with an armadillo shape that was so cute! In another room, a student was working in a sculpture for a place of Bilbao, too. And in the stairs there was a BIG picture of Picasso’s Guernica.

It’s curious that there weren’t the typical classes where the students are sitting and writing what the teacher is explaining. People work in their projects in freedom, wherever and whenever they want.

dsc_0092-bAfter that, we assisted to a class where Salvador explained our project about the stairs to his students. One of them, a girl, showed us two videos that she had filmed. The first, showed an iron chair that drew a circle in the floor by the light reflected on the metal. The other one, showed her life in the London’s residence, where she had lived with other girls. With this video, she pretended to show the tension in a place where you’re living but it’s not your home.

Finally, the class finished and we left the University. We should stay at the high school at one o’clock, but we arrived there at two o’clock!

Recreant amb l’autocad l’escala multiusos

bea-cad1
