14.06.2011
This Wednesday night, we will enjoy a total lunar eclipse. It will be seen as early as the moonrise, a little before 20:22, local time. The total phase will last from 21:22 until 23:02. And from this time the disk of the Moon will be emerging from the shadow of the Earth. The maximum moment of the eclipse will be at 22.12 hours.
Lunar eclipses always occur when Earth is between the Sun and the Moon, so that the moon intersects the shadow cast by the Earth. During a total lunar eclipse, it does not disappear, but it takes a reddish hue.
The next total lunar eclipse visible from Catalonia will be in September 2015.
ASTER, in collaboration with the Castell de Montjuïc invites citizens who wish to observe the eclipse from the Montjuïc Castle, in an area with a magnificent view over the sea.
