Superstition

Listen very carefully this song, specially the guitar.  It remembers me the city rap. Don’t you ?

It’s a Stevie Wonder’s song from the seventies. I like it very much. When I was young I had danced it. Probably your parents know it.

Stevie Wonder is a very famous singer. He is blind.

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/wDZFf0pm0SE" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]

Here you are the lyrics:

Very superstitious, writing’s on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout’ to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin’ glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past.

CHORUS:
When you believe in things that you don’t understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain’t the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin’ strong,
You don’t wanna save me, sad is my song.

CHORUS:
When you believe in things that you don’t understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain’t the way, yeh, yeh.

Very superstitious, nothin’ more to say,
Very superstitious, the devil’s on his way,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin’ glass,
Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past

When you believe in things that you don’t understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain’t the way, no, no, no.

In this English Unit there is a song about surfing. Do you like listening to the Beach Boys. They are an American pop music. They started in 1961. They were three brothers like the Jonas Brothers, and they sang surfing songs like this.

And here, you have the lyrics of this song.

[Chorus:]
What time is it?
Summertime! It’s our vacation!
What time is it?
Party time! That’s right say it loud!
What time is it?
Time of our lives! Anticipation!
What time is it?
Summertime! School’s out scream and shout!

[Troy:]
Finally Summers is here,
Good to be chilling out,
I’m off the clock,
The pressure’s off,
And my girl is what it’s all about…

[Gabriella:]
Ready for some sunshine,
For my heart to take a chance,
I’m here to stay,
No moving away,
Ready for a summer romance…

[Troy & Gabriella:]
Everybody ready going crazy are we right?
Come on and let me here you say it now, Right NOW!

[Everyone:]
We’re out of control!!!

[Bridge:]
School’s out, lets show it!
Champions we know it!
Wildcats! Are the best!
Red, White and Gold!
When it’s time to win we do it!
Number 1, we proved it!
Let’s say it loud! All together!
That’s what the summer is all about!

[Chorus:]
Summer’s here!
Summer time is finally here,
Lets Celebrate!
We want to hear you loud and clear now!
School’s Out!
We can sleep as late as we want to!
It’s our time!
Now we can do what ever we want to!
Summer’s Here!

Celebrate!
Come on and say what you know!
Summer’s Here!
It’s our time!
Celebrate!
The time of our lives!

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/TDch761krEw" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]

And here you have the lyrics. You can sing if you want:

Here Comes The Sun

(George Harrison)

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Little darlin’ it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darlin’ it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Little darlin’ the smiles returning to their faces
Little darlin’ it seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darlin’ I feel the ice is slowly meltin’
Little darlin’ it seems like years since it’s been clear
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
Here come the sun, here comes the sun
It’s all right, it’s all right

I can’t dance

We are studying the verb CAN. That is very famous because Obarak Obama’s used it. He says: WE CAN. In the Activity Book page 89 you’ve got some examples: They can swim. Can they swim ? No they can’t swim.

Here you can watch and listen a video very funny “I can’t dance” by GENESIS

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ae7c6JCYKyY" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]

Hot sun beating down
burning my feet just walking around.

Hot sun making me sweat
‘Gators getting close, hasn’t got me yet

I can’t dance, I can’t talk.
Only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can’t dance, I can’t sing
I’m just standing here selling everything.

Blue Jean’s sitting on the beach,
her dog’s talking to me, but she’s out of reach.

She’s got a body under that shirt,
but all she wants to do is rub my face in the dirt.

Cause, I can’t dance, I can’t talk.
Only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can’t dance, I can’t sing
I’m just standing here selling.

Oh and checking everything is in place,
you never know who’s looking on.

Young punk spilling beer on my shoes,
fat guy’s talking to me trying to steal my blues.

Thick smoke, see her smiling through.
I never thought so much could happen just shooting pool.

But I can’t dance, I can’t talk.
The only thing about me is the way that I walk.
I can’t dance, I can’t sing
I’m just standing here selling…

Oh and checking everything is in place
You never know who’s looking on
A perfect body
with a perfect face – uh-huh.

No, I can’t dance, I can’t talk.
The only thing about me is the way I walk.
No, I can’t dance, I can’t sing
I’m just standing here selling everything.

But I can walk.
No I can’t dance.
No no no I can’t dance. (begins to fade out)
No I said I can’t sing.
But I can walk.
