The Power in your Hands

electrocity2.jpg

This a really nice game! It’s not a simple click and go thing, you must think as a responsible manager, a responsible mayor who wants to run a clean city with happy citizens. The main focus is the wise use of energy, but it appears together with other aspects that create an extremely catchy educational game. Take some time to learn the rules, and you’ll be able to get the most of the game with your students next school year!

In plain English

This is a good way to teach things! Visually, and with a very easy script. The Lefever brothers have created a series of videos with easy explanations on diverse issues, mostly ICT related. Information is easy and the pace is not too fast. Students will easily undertand it. You can find them in their own Youtube page

Why not trying to create similar presentations with our students?

Here’s a video on how podcasting works:

This one is a very clear explanation on blogging:

Back to the oldies

We often look into the future trying to find newbies that make our teaching catchier. These videos from Schoolhouse Rock are still nice to watch. With the teacher’s assistance, primary students can learn a lot as they have a very good time. Just go to YouTube and type Schoolhouse Rock, and there you are: adjectives, prepositions, verbs… There’s an unofficial website where you can listen to the songs and read the lyrics. Up to you!

Build your own lessons and assignments for your students in this interesting website, a very good example of social WWW and web 2.0.

Register and start creating your posts/lessons/tasks right away. Embed video, links and images, and ask for your student’s feedback and tasks. They will even receive an email when they send you what they have done.

If you want to have a clear picture of what ChitCh.at is like, watch this introductory video, or find some very good tutorials in the website and youTube as well.

Zimmer Twins

zimmertwins.jpg

Zimmer Twins is an amazing Canadian website which allows you to create your own cartoon. You can use different backgrounds, characters with their different faces and expressions, movement and other extras. The interface is very user-friendly and intuitive. Simple clicks and drop-down menus help you create a nice story that you can later share with your friends. I’m sure students will love it!
