Article de Diari d’ Escola

Hello students,

As we have started working with computers, I have thought it could be a nice idea to include this article from Diari d’ Escola. Oh, by the way, I think our computers are not powerful enough to run Windows 7 (in case you were wondering…).

Congratulations 1 ESO E

Mr. Whitefield

Countries and nationalities

Here are some exercises that you can include in your unit 1 dossier. They are exercises to practise the names of countries and their nationalities. You will only find countries, but you should also learn:

  • Andalusia – Andalusian
  • The Basque Country – Basque
  • Galicia – Galician
  • Catalonia – Catalan
  • Aran Valley – Aranese

The exercises can be found here: LIST OF ACTIVITIES

Occupations

Some of you are tired of completing exercises about the verb ‘to be’. Well, here you can practice this unit’s vocabulary: occupations. Follow the link to find a list of exercises, click on them and you will see that they are really easy. Don’t worry if some of the vocabulary there is new. Learn the new words, it’s good for your English.

And the winner is…

… it seems that we’ve got the winner of the caterpillar contest. The moth -not a butterfly- is the death’s head hawk moth.

This spectacular moth had a ‘special’ role in a thriller called The Silence of the Lambs. Here’s a short clip from the film:

What’s this caterpillar?

Hello students,

I’ve got a prize for the person who tells me the English name of this caterpillar (or the moth it will transform into). Some clues:

  • It’s not an exotic insect. I found it here, in Cunit, in my vegetable garden.
  • It eats tomato, aubergine and red pepper leaves.
  • It is a very long caterpillar. It was about 11 cm long!!
  • It is not a butterfly, it is a moth!
  • It can drink honey!
  • You should look up information in the library. Maybe a butterflies and moths guide?
  • If you don’t go to the library, look up on the internet.

Good luck!
Caterpillar

Occupations activities

Hello students, the following exercise counts as four exercises in your dossier. If you are in the intermediate level, you can do it:

For example,   Journalist : a person who reports news on TV, radio or newspaper.

Another activity (but it counts as only ONE exercise!) is this one.
