Kilts and tartans

“The tradition of wearing kilts started in the Scottish highlands. A kilt was a piece of cloth. Men tied the kilt round their waists with a belt. They used a sporran, a small leather bag, to keep money and other valuable things in. At night they used the kilt as a blanket. The traditional cloth for kilts is tartan. Scottish clans or big family groups traditionally have their own tartan.”

The Eden project

“These buldings are called biomes. Inside, you can see trees and plants that normally grow in other countries. In the Mediterranean biome you can see lemon, orange and olive trees. In the Rainforest biome there are waterfalls, and you can see banana, cacao, and chewing gum trees. The Eden Project isn’t just a garden. It teaches people about plants. There’s an ice rink in winter, there’s a rock climbing club, and there are beautiful sculptures in the gardens. And if you like adventure sports, you can go on the longest zip wire in England !”
