In the UK (United Kingdom), Ireland, Australia … Pancake Day is also known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday because it is the one day of the year when almost everyone eats a pancake.

Shrove Tuesday day is the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The day is commonly celebrated with a feast of pancakes

In 2016 Pancake Day is on Tuesday  9th February.

Pancake Day always falls 47 days before  Easter Sunday.

WHAT IS A PANCAKE ?

An English pancake is a thin cake, made of flour, eggs, milk, butter, salt and sugar and fried in a pan. Then the pancake is rolled and some people add lemon juice or jam

Ingredients:

flour
eggs
milk
butter
sugar
lemon juice or jam
salt

People have pancake races. It is very funny !
