ROLE-PLAYING IN THE CLASSROOM!

In the listening & speaking class, 5th and 6th grade students were gathered in groups of three or four in order to do a role play activity.

5th grade students had to prepare a dialogue between some tourists and citizens. They had to imagine that the tourists were lost in the city they were visiting and so, they had to ask for the direction to the citizens.

6th grade students had to imagine they were in a TV game show. They chose their role (TV presenter or contestant) and the activities they wanted to carry out. Then, they wrote the dialogue and they memorized it in order to perform their theatre play in the classroom.

The role play has some benefits for learners such as building their self-confidence, participating actively in class and improving their listening and speaking skills.

OPPOSITES: Big/ Small

Hello families!

The P5 students went to the playground in order to classify BIG/ SMALL things as for example: branches, leaves, stones, flowers… here you have the results.

During class time, we had a great time dancing this “opposites song”, you can practice at home! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kFU__btMG4

Or read here: “Bee-Bot is new robot designed for use by young children. This colourful, easy-to-operate, and friendly little robot is a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, and just having fun!”

FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS

Our students of P5 absolutely LOVE this popular chant.

This song is a great tool to practice the numbers and basic subtraction skills. At the same time, students learn new vocabulary and prepositions as for example on, up and down.

Students participated very actively!

Song Lyrics

Five little monkeys

jumping on the bed.

One fell off

and bumped her head.

Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,

“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

Enjoy your Christmas holidays!

INTERVIEWING A FAMOUS PERSON

[November 2014]

In the listening & speaking class, 6th grade students were gathered in groups of three or four in order to do a role play activity. They were asked to choose their role (interviewer or interviewee) and prepare an interview with a famous person.

The only requirement was to include the following questions: 1) How does it feel to be famous? 2) What do you do every day? 3) Do you live in hotels and drive racing cars? 4) What do you wear for matches/concerts/films…? Students could invent the rest: the name of the famous people, their description, add more questions… Finally, they performed it in class in front of their classmates and we had a great time together!

The role play has some benefits for learners such as building their self-confidence, participating actively in class and improving their listening and speaking skills.

In this video you can find some of the best moments of their interviews!

TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD

[November 2014]

In the listening & speaking class, 5th grade students were gathered in groups of three or four and chose a country they were interested in. Therefore, they looked for some information about it and prepared an oral presentation in order to share their knowledge with the other classmates.

Doing oral presentations in class helps students develop their presentation skills and self-confidence as well as improve their listening skills and their organizing skills when speaking. Moreover, this promotes an active participation of learners.

In this video you can find some of the best parts of their oral presentations!

HALLOWEEN AT MESTRE GIBERT SCHOOL

[November 2014]

On Friday 31st October, Educació Infantil and Cicle Superior students celebrated Halloween! In the English class, it’s important that students don’t only learn a language, but also the British culture and traditions.

The week before Halloween the pupils learned and practised a Halloween song: 5th and 6th grade students learned ‘The Addams Family’ and P5 students, ‘Knock Knock, Trick or Treat?’

Therefore, during the English class on Friday 31st October, all boys and girls from Cicle Superior wore a custome and sang their Halloween song in all Educació Infantil classrooms.

We sang songs together and we had a great time!

Watch this video to see how we celebrated Halloween! Enjoy it!
