Calvin & Hobbes are the two main characters of the comic strip written and illustrated by Bill Watterson. Calvin is an imaginative six-year old boy and Hobbes, his energetic stuffed tiger. If you don’t know them, don’t miss the link in this post they’re really good!

Describing a place

Writing a description is providing a picture of the scene so real and vivid that the reader feels like he has been placed in the place, observing and feeling everything.

A ‘real’ Martion invasion in 1938

The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama. It was performed as a Halloween episode on October 30, 1938 and directed and narrated by Orson Welles. The episode was an adaptation of H.G.Wells’ novel The war of the worlds. Although was a performance of the book, many listeners thought that an actual Martian invasion was in progress!!

Sk8er Boy (Avril Lavigne)

Avril Lavigne is a Canadian pop singer who started making records at the age of 16. One of her most famous hits is ‘Skater boy’ or ‘Sk8ter boy’ in modern slang. The abbreviations are quite common in slang as well as in sms messages.

Popword is a game similar to tetris but with letters. You have to drag the mouse in order to create a word in English. Longer is the word, more points you’ll have.
