Dear Roser,

Thanks a lot for looking after everything. I’m sorry, but I can’t come back yet, in fact I need to stay in Beijing for another week. Things are going much too slowly, and I haven’t signed any contracts yet! Anyway, I hope you’re having a good holiday. You’ve already visited Buckingham Palace, haven’t you? So you could go and visit Windsor Castle by train.

Have they finished decorating the living room yet? I’m sending you a list of the changes I wanted. Have they done everything? Please could you do me a big favour and write back to tell me?

By the way, what colour would you prefer for a teapot? Sorry to ruin the surprise, but I think you wanted one to match your kitchen walls, didn’t you? I’ve just bought you a blue one, but I’ll get another one in a different colour, no problem!

So, here’s that list:
  1. Paint the walls blue.
  2. Cover the sofa with white cotton covers.
  3. Cover the footrest with blue cotton covers.
  4. Buy a backgammon set and put it on the footrest.
  5. Keep the yellow curtains.
  6. Put a very small basket next to the fire (for firewood).
  7. Put a comfortable chair next to the fire.
  8. Hang a picture of happy young ladies above the fireplace.
  9. Buy a table to go next to the sofa (any Eastern style is OK).
  10. Sell that horrible abstract painting which is in the corner between the windows.
  11. Install a TV in the same corner!
I’m looking forward to hearing from you – I just hope everything’s fine!

Thanks a million,

Homer.

PS. If they’ve already sent the bill, how much is it?

  1. Dear Homer,
Thank you for your letter. I was very happy to hear from you. You’re right about my holidays, today I visited Backingham Palace and I enjoyed a lot with this visit. You know I like spend my holidays in London, it’s a greatful city!!. Every day, in the morning, I go for a walk and choose the visit I prefer do along the day. So I think I won’t go to Windsor Castle, London has a lot of entertainments.
Your living room is fantastic, the decorator has worked very hard and quickly and you’ve a new room very nice and comfortable.
Don’t worry about the teapot, I like all the colours, it doesn’t matter the color for my kitchen.
Now, I’m going to answer your questions:
    1. The painters have painted the walls pink; the decorator doesn’t like the blue colour, and I’m agree too.
    2. The sofá has covered with white cotton covers. I know you want blue cover, but this color doesn’t agree with the colour’s room.
    3. I’ve bought a backgammon set and I’ve put it on the footrest.
    4. The decorator has bought new white cotton curtains because this color is better than the old yellow.
    5. He hasn’t put a very small basket next to the fire; It’s fashionable without this.
    6. He’s put a comfortable chair next to the fire.
    7. He’s hung a picture of old man above the fireplace. The decorator and I have thrown it out to the rubbish.
    8. He’s bought a Easter Style table to go next to the sofá.
    9. He’s kept the abstract painting which is in the corner between the windows because he thinks that it’s a greatful picture and very original.
    10. He’s installed the TV in the same corner.
I’ve described all the changes and I think you will feel very happy when you will see the new room.
Don’t worry about the bill, it’s very cheap!!
Thank you for lending your home in my holidays.
    I’m looking forward your reply.
    Best wishes,
    Roser.
