El projecte Playing For Change és un moviment multimèdia solidari creat per inspirar, connectar i aconseguir la pau al món a través de la música. També col·laboren en la construcció d’escoles d’arts i música, d’educació ordinària i han construït un centre per a refugiats tibetans. Una de les peces claus del projecte és el guardonat documental musical Playing for change, dirigit per Mark Johnson i Jonathan Walls que ha portat 10 anys de treball i que es va estrenar en el festival de Tribeca a l’abril del 2008. El CD amb la banda sonora íntegra i el DVD del documental es posaran a la venda la primavera del 2009, però ja es poden veure trailers promocionals. Un dels més complerts és el següent:

Per anar fent boca podeu veure dos temes promocionals amb la participació de més de 100 músics de tot el món. Les cançons són Stand by me (Ben E. King) i One Love (Bob Marley). El primer tema ha estat vist a Youtube per 1’7 milions de persones en un mes, el segon és un avançament curt del tema sencer. Diverses interpretacions incloses en els 2 videoclips i en el trailer han estat gravades a Barcelona per músics d’origen estranger que viuen i treballen a Barcelona. Alguns formen part del grup musical Batukada de la Calle o hi col·laboren ocasionalment, d’altres estan en d’altres formacions o actuen sols. Excepte Manu Chao, la resta de músics són poc coneguts fora dels cercles de la música mestissa i de carrer de Barcelona. Hi ha més músics de Barcelona que han participat en la pel·lícula, però que no surten ni als videoclips ni al trailer.
