In April 2010 Steve Jobs created the first Ipad. It meant the possibility of having the Internet at your fingertips. Immediately that type of technology was in private school classrooms. With only one tablet these students could record videos, paint, take photos, read, browse the internet, watch videos, play educative games, calculate… Later, tablets became available in public and state-subsidized academic centres because the digital divide was a problem that needed to be eliminated.

Nowadays, this tendency of using technology for learning is changing. While the newest mobile phone is the main gift for a Spanish 12-year-old child, in Silicon Valley the children of engineers who work in companies such as Google, Apple, eBay, Yahoo… are attending schools whose lure is the absence of screens. At least, until secondary education.

Some parents are restricting the time their offspring id exposed to technologies in the house and banning the use of mobile phones in cars. Chris Anderson, ex-manager of the Wired technological magazine, put screens on the same level as cocaine. They are conscious of the addictions created by games apps. These are designed in such a way that the user generates dopamine, the hormone which feeds the reward circuit in the brain.

Some years ago kids were punished with no dessert, but now if children don’t behave well, they don’t have WI-FI.

There are several reasons why the parents of the digital revolution protect their children from that. Every day there is more information about problems caused by screens. For instance, the addiction results in low frustration tolerance, low self-esteem and problems with concentration, sight, sleep deficit… In addition to these health reasons, there are some social differentiation reasons.

The Silicon Valley private schools guarantee zero technology, blackboards, chalk, crafts and outdoor games. While the poor children are hooked on the screens, the elite kids are rediscovering the treasure of childhood: the game.

El passat 6 de maig es va celebrar la Met Gala, un acte organitzat per l’editora de la revista Vogue US, Anna Wintour. Es celebra des del 1948, al Metropolitan Museum of Art a Nova York, per inaugurar la nova exposició del museu i així recaptar fons pel museu.

Durant l’inici d’aquest acte els assistents desfilen per una catifa vermella i llueixen els vestits d’alta costura. Cada any s’atorga un tema per inspirar els looks, aquest any el tema estava basat en un assaig del 1964 de Susan Sontag ‘Notes on Camp’. L’obra deixa a entreveure una essència supèrflua, exagerada i extravagant. Així doncs l’exposició per recaptar fons giraria al voltant de peces d’art iròniques, humorístiques i passades de moda.

La decoració i preparació d’aquest acte és molt important, per aquest motiu el pressupost per la decoració del museu gira entorn el milió de dòlars. D’altra banda els assistents han de fer una donació d’entre 25000 i 30000 dòlars per accedir-hi.

Entre els convidats podem trobar les cares més conegudes de món del cinema, moda, música i de l’art. Aquest any els amfitrions de la gala anual van ser: Lady Gaga, Alessandro Michele, Harry Styles, Serena Williams i Anna Wintour.
Un dels looks més comentats va ser el de Harry Styles, ja que amb ell va trencar molts dels típics cànons de bellesa que difereixen entre el que és masculí i el femení.

Destacar en la catifa vermella del MET gala és molt difícil. Tots els assistents preparen els seus outfits amb mesos d’antelació per tal d’adequarse al theme de cada any, ja que els temes escollits sempre són molt ambigus i és necessari deixar volar la imaginació.

Sabent el ressò que té aquest esdeveniment Harry Styles no va tenir cap dubte a l’hora de desfilar amb un senzill però destacable vestit d’home que anava complementat amb unes sabates de taló, bijuteria i manicura. Altres famosos que també van estar en boca de tots els Mitjans van ser la cantant Cardi B, Michael Urie i Lady Gaga que durant la desfilada es va anar desvestint fins a quedar-se amb el 4t outfit.
