Held every four years, the Olympic Games is the most important international sporting event in the world. Its significance has meant that, at times, the Games have become a reflection of political and ideological conflicts, a platform for protests and boycotts.

The picture is from a plant called ‘agave’. Immature leaves are in the centre of the plant, very much pressed together, and when they open you can see the curious patterns made by the thorns:

And this is a larger view:

So … there were only two contestants this week, and they answered exactly the same so… let me think who the winner is (or if there actually is a winner).
In London, Paris and San Francisco, the olympic torch has met with protests, chaos and attempts to put it out.
The British newspaper The Guardian offers you this interactive guide to revisit the first steps of the olympic torch.
The Good Friday agreement marked the beginning of the peace process in Northern Ireland. The BBC offers THIS VIDEO on the 10th anniversary of this historical date.
The Good Friday agreement has stopped bomb attacks and killings and has allowed two opposed political parties, the Unionists and the Sinn Fein, to rule together the country. 10 years ago this was completely unimaginable, just as much as a government with Herri Batasuna and PP in the Basque Country.

English page has got a very interesting tutorial divided in three parts on the use of gerunds and infinitives in English. It is so complete that it becomes too confusing sometimes, especially because we are only studying a few aspects of their use. Nevertheless, it can be very useful for those of you who want some extra practice.
The list of verbs together with a Catalan translation can be downloaded HERE.

This is a list of exercises that you can use to practise the list of verbs that must be followed by either gerund or infinitive.
However, your Take Note 2 coursebook gives you only a short number of verbs, but the list is actually quite larger. This means that you won’t be able to find an answer for every sentence in the exercises.
But don’t worry. Tomorrow, I will post the complete list with Catalan translation here. Meanwhile, the list (with no translation) is here: gerunds, infinitives.
