    Yes, I have done them. Apart from the usual ones: loosing some weight, doing some exercise and taking live easy, my most important resolution is to speak good English at once…It’s now or never!!!!!

    In my case, I haven’t done it but three or four years ago, at the beginning of the New Year, I was very ambitious and I used to write a list with my New Year’s Resolutions without to know I was doing that.

    This list was divided in different classes:
    – things to do in my house,
    – improve computer skills related with my degree or not
    – improve computer skills specifically related with my job
    – -different goals in sports for being fit like running a distance or swimming a specific number of swimming pools with a detailed program of activities (It was crazy!)
    – -the purpose of managing in a different way the day by day problems,
    – -finally and obviously, improve my English skills.

    At the end of the year, it was discouraging to check that, in general, I hadn’t achieved my targets and I had done nothing related with some items of my list. Because of that I gave up writing my list.

    For the people who like that, I recommend to be very specific with their New Year’s Resolutions. For example, Susana wrote: “loosing some weight, doing some exercise and taking live easy, my most important resolution is to speak good English”, all the items are very generic and very difficult for checking them:
    – 50 g is an important loosing of weight?
    – Put the rubbish out in a container placed in the next corner could be considered “some exercise”?

    I’m sorry Susana, it’s nothing personal, it’s only work. The only comment was your.

    Hi!
    In order to accomplish the target of this activity I will make a New Year’s Resolution.

    My New Year’s Resolutions are to past the 4th Course and to declutter.

    Of course, my first New Year’s Resolution means to improve my English and that’s very original, isn’t it?

    I hope to keep my New Year’s Resolution because of the “woman in red” says:
    …you have to be very serious about what you’re resolving to do.

    Hi,

    I don’t usually make New’s year resolutions because I’m sure I would break them. I like to go step by step and making little resolutions along the year.

    There is a Spanish proberb very good which says: You don’t have to sell the bear’s skin before hunting.

    Anyway, I want to encourage myself and I will make one for this year: My New’s Year Resolution will be to be more respecful with The Enviroment. I’m sure that I will keep this resolution.

    Well, sincerely I don’t usually make any New Year’s resolution, but this year I’m going to do an exeption. So I made the resolution to enrol to a gym and trying to keep fit. I know it’ll be a hard task and probably I’ll break it as the great majority of people do.

    hi everybody,
    In 2009 I began the year with the resolution of being a good mother (my daughter was only 11 days old) I don’t know if I have achieved it or not, but her smile makes me feel that I have done it. Even though being achieved I should recognise it was very dificult and maybe I forgot to pay attention to some people of my family who really need me. This is way my New Year’s resolutions is to be with them more time and to make them know that I love them a lot, and I need to add that I will try to be in a better humor, to sleep more and to be happier.
    I’m completely sure I will attain it!!

    Hello,

    I never make New Year’s resolutions, I usually make resolutions along the year. Two years ago, for example, I started a hard training to compete in my first Triathlon. I finished among the first fifty percent. I felt really proud of myself!!And last year I competed in two more Triatlon….but this year I have made a personal and private New Year’s resolutions. And of course, I want to improve my English!!!

    My New Year’s Resolutions are the same year over year, lose weight, get fit, eat night, reduce stress, enjoy life wore…
    But sincerely, I think these are unrealistic expectations for me, because I have never had success, I have trouble keeping my resolutions.

    So that I agree with Pablo about going little along the year, and making an effort to be constant.

    Although I’m a complete disaster, I want to make a new resolution for this year, I will try to do a cookery course.

    Hello,
    I admit I´ve never made a New Year´s resolution. The main reason is that If I had done a New Year´s resolution, I would have broken it. Nevertheless, after seeing this video I understand they wanting to do that.
    Make a New Year´s resolution means that has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It´s a time to reflect on the changes we want to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.
    One of my New Year´s resolution is to learn a new language, such as German. And the most important New Year´s resolution is to spend more time with my family and friends.

    Hello friends,

    I’m not used to make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I have made some. One of the resolutions is the typical one: Losing weight, this involves in doing exercise to get fit, and maintaining a balanced nutrition too.

    Also I made the resolution to travel more. I mean, not only going abroad but here in my country. Visiting regions, landmarks or landscapes that I have only seen in pictures, as Vall d’Aran, or the Montclar Castle for instance.

    Another resolution I’m not sure that I could keep along the year is to write a gratitude diary, that means I will try to write a paragraph of things happened along the day or week that I’m grateful for. This exercise is good for changing the mind, focusing in good happenings instead of thinking in the worst, or in things that could be improved, etc. It’s a fantastic way to change your brain towards appreciation and a happier mind. But brain is very lazy and tricky and it will try that I break the resolution. Me against my brain, uauh!

    I never make a New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of the year because I always feel that my year start in September where I change my routine life. For this reason, I made my “New Year’s resolutions” four months ago. One of them it was to finish my degree in June that will be great to start to do new things. For sure, one of the New Year’s resolution that I always make it’s to continue to study English and, fortunately, I have never break it.

    Hi everybody!

    To be honest, as many among you, I don’t have the good habit of making a New Year’s Resolution in the way which is presented. In my opinion, I regret that this way of doing is more related to the Anglo-Saxon or American cultures than to Mediterranean one. During our lives we have to face situations obliging us to make and keep resolutions, but the fact of planning them makes the difference. Therefore, if you are able to plan and fix some goals or resolutions, you will probably have more chances of overcoming a new situation or taking advantage of a new opportunity.
    Mediterranean people are very good at improvising but it is not enough, we have to learn to plan: that’s a great and ambitious New Year’s Resolution for us!

    For those which could be interested in such type of management topics (either at a personal or an organization/company level) I recommend you a book:

    “The 7 habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey (I read it in a Catalan translated version “Els 7 hàbits de la gent altament efectiva”).

    I learned a lot from this book and I believe that it’s good reference in terms of management. So, again, I highly recommend this book to you (I don’t have any sales commission!!).

    Hello,

    I think it’s curious who old people make new year resolutions with things more easier to do and young people make idealist new year resolutions.
    I’m not a new year resolution person but if I have to say something maybe I have to try to be more pacient, and make the things with more calm and try to enjoy all the days.

    I’ve never done a New Years’s Resolution without breaking it few weeks later! So I think that now I try to change the bad things in my life when I believe that it is necessary, without waiting for the New Year.
    Anyway, these days my New Year’s Resolution would be to try to pass all my exams! And I can promise you that I’m trying to do it really hard!

    Hi everybody!

    I don’t usually make a New Years’s Resolutions at the beginning of the New Year.

    I’m sure that the resolutions for along time can be unrealistic.
    I normally prefer to plan about the following moment, day or week in order to achieve something. Everyday, I feel good when I do the things that I want to do. Too, sometimes, I prefer do nothing because it’s positive for my mind and my body.

    I believe that the most important thing is living at the moment although you make little resolutions in your mind or on your agenda, like improving your english this course.

    It’s possible that, next saturday, I can save petrol and get better the environment if I drive my car reducing speed by the motorway, and in this moment, I can improve myself if I stop of thinking about a negative way.

    However, I’d like to add that I’ve some dreams. Perhaps, I can’t never achieve them but I enjoy dreaming.

    My New Year’s resolution is to be fit, to work out more regularly and not to put on weight. I’m aware of the fact I won’t keep my New Year’s resolution for a long time because, as usual, I make this promise every year although I break it, unfortunately.

    I think never is too late to make a good New Year’s resolution so I’m going to post the mine:

    + To improve my skills in english
    + To achive my goals in work
    + To improve my records in 10K races and half marathon
    + and …to spend more time with family and friends…

    And obviously I’m going to intent don’t break and keep all of them !!!

    Hi,

    Last year my New Year resolution was to improve my English and I kept it attending classes, but this year I didn’t make any New Year’s Resolution… The easy way to make New Year’s Resolution is to make every year more or less the same. My best New Year’s Resolution is to try to be happy every day!!
