St. George – Writing Contest

If you are an ESO student, you can take part in the contest by writing a mini saga about a classic story, fairy tale, myth or legend. You can change the original plot, the setting, or include new characters.

A mini saga is a short piece of writing containing exactly 50 words, plus a maximum of 15 words for the title. You can include a picture or drawing as in the sample:

Not Cinderella anymore

Cinderella was mean and spoiled by her stepmother. Her two sisters were all the time fixing up the house. One day, the family met a handsome prince, and all three fell in love with him. The sisters grabbed a shoe and beat Cinderella, and the prince was only for them.

All the writings must be delivered to Mar or Laura and sent to iesjblume@hotmail.com in an attached word or pdf document. You must write Creative Writing Contest and your name, surname and course in the subject line.

Activity ESO2: WRITING NEWS

We are going to create a piece of news in pairs. To do it you have to follow these steps:

STEP 1. Choose a natural phenomena (tsunami, earthquake, landslide, storm, hailstones, avalanche, hurricane, volcano, flood, thunder and lightning, wildfire or tornado)

STEP2. Go to Padlet to create your piece of news and

  • Add a title to your news.
  • Write your piece of news. You must include this information: What happened?When? Where? To what people?  What were the people doing when it happened?
  • Add photos or videos. You have to add photos and videos to illustrate your piece of news. You can find a lot of pictures in Google Images. Make sure your image is Creative Commons by checking it in “Eines de cerca –> Drets d’ús”. You can also find videos on Youtube.
  • Sign it with your name, surname and group.

STEP 3. Click on the “SHARE” button and send me the link by mail or as a comment in this post.

ASSESSMENT

We are going to use this rubric to correct your presentations. You will be given from 0 to 3 points. The maximum mark is 6:

Activity ESO2D 2/2: Our Christmas holidays

Write an essay about your Christmas holidays using some of the sentences we gathered in class. Use at least 5 sentences. You have to hand it in on January the 15th.

-I went to the parade.

-On holidays I didn’t put up the manger in my house.

-I didn’t enjoy this holiday because my family was connected to the wi-fi all day and I couldn’t play online videogames.
