Charities to make this world better

 We have been talking about how people can help other people. One way is donating to charitable organizations. 

I. How many charities do you know? In pairs, take one minute to think of as many organizations as you can. What type of organizations are they?

II. Go to the following website and complete the information about the types of charities that we may find. 

III. In pairs, choose a charity you find interesting and prepare a presentation. Follow the steps:

STEP 1. Choose a charity you think it’s interesting.

STEP 2. Go to Google and find information about it.

  • What type of organization is it?
  • Explain the history of the organization. When was it founded? In what countries do they work? How many people support this organization?
  • What actions do they take to raise money for their projects?
  • Choose one of the projects they have been working on and summarise it.
  • Why did you choose this charity? Why do you think it is important to support it?

STEP 3. Prepare a presentation. You can use any tool: Canva, Google Slides, Prezi, etc… Remember to add royalty free pictures and not down the source below the photo.

Shopping survey

We are going to find out what the shopping habits in the class are.

In groups of 3 you are going to think of different topics related to shopping and make questions to the rest of the students in the class in order to create an infographic.

STEP 1. Brainstorm different topics related to shopping. For example: sales, saving up, shopping for technology, expensive clothes, etc.

STEP 2. Make 10 questions related to the topics you have chosen. Remember your questions must be YES/NO questions. Template.

For example: Have you bought more than 5 things on the last sales? 

STEP 3. Analyse your results and create an infographic with Genial.ly or Canva.

STEP 4. Present your results to the rest of the class.

To convince people to join your club, you must be very persuasive. You have to give a persuasive oral presentation.
 
But what is the meaning of “persuasion”?

The history of a product

In groups of three, you are going to do a presentation about the history of a product. It can be any general product you like or you find interesting or it can be a specific brand.

You can use Power Point, Google Slides, Prezi … to do you presentation. Remember to include bibliography, webgraphy and to use images labeled for reuse. If the images are not labeled for reuse, don’t forget to attribute them! You can also include a video or anything you find interesting and is significant.

You can write your names and the products or brands in these lists: STUDENTS’LIST 

You need to add the following information:

1- How did this product get its name? 

2- Why did people use it?

3- What was it made from?

4- How did it become popular?

5- Who used them?

6- What has happened to this product/brand recently?

7- Is this product popular today?

Remember that your Power Point is a kind of guide that you follow to present the information. Do not copy paste from the Internet, use facts and figures and key words in the slides and use your own words to explain them. You can use index cards to remember what you want to explain.

The presentation must be sent to me by email by Monday 12th March as the latest.

There are lots of festivals all around the world. In pairs you are going to choose one and explain it to your classmates.
