We are going to create an online newspaper with different crime news.

I. Choose one of the crimes we have seen in the unit and, in pairs or groups of three, write a piece of news.

arson.    burglary.    mugging.    pickpocketing.    shoplifting.    speeding.    vandalism

You must use the following structure:

CHOOSE A HEADLINE FOR YOUR PIECE OF NEWS.

Paragraph 1. Set the scene.

  • What was happening before the crime?
  • Who was there?
  • What were they doing?

Paragraph 2. Describe the crime.

  • What type of crime was it?
  • Who did it?
  • What did they do?
  • What did other people do while it was happening?

Paragraph 3. Write about what happened in the end.

  • What did people do after the crime happened?

Remember to use these words to order the events:

beginning first of all, at first
ordering events before, next, later, then, after that
describing events that happen at the same time when, while
ending finally, in the end

II. Once you have written your piece of news decide, in class, the name of your newspaper. Choose a name in pairs or in groups of three and then vote for the one you like most.

III. Now go to NEWSPAPER GENERATOR and type your piece of news on the template.
