Activity 2: Browsing for English Blogs
Hello teachers,
Browse these English websites, choose one of them and write in a comment some pros and cons about it. You can add the link on the Sidebar of the blog.
Mare de Deu de Montserrat School (Kindergarden)
I have visited Primary English blog.
Pros:
* Works made by students shown on the blog: it is motivating.
*Some interisting links for teachers: good as resource bank.
Cons:
* Posts with html codes makes it inintelligible for students.
* Too much words on both sidebars, too much information and shown in a unattractive way.
I’ve browsed the website http://seccionsociais.blogspot.com.es/
It is a very good website with resources for Secondary.
Pros: There are a lot of activities to help students learn the language.
There are also a lot of resources for Social Sciences in English.
Cons: I think there is so much of everything that maybe it can be some how overwhelming for ESO students. There are not many contributions from the students.
However, it is very well organised.

I particularly like Escola Monserrat blog because it’s very well-structured. It looks very professional and very appealing for teachers as well as very catchy for youngsters at the same time.
We have browsed the blog “Escola Misericordia”.
Pros: It is a good blog with many resources for Primary students.
Cons: The layout is difficult to read and we haven’t seen any separation between the posts.
I really like Manuel Caicedo website. It provides lots of different resources such as videos, songs or pictures. It’s also a colourful page and very well-organized.
On the other han, CPI Tino Grandío site could be an excellent webpage for secondary students, but the information offered is a bit dense and maybe the content is not so attractive for our students.
Hi!
I have had a look at the blog of “Escola Montjuic” and I have like it because it is well organised and easy to follow for students. I like the style and sort of
activities on it, they are cool and modern!!!
I have visited Primary English blog.
Pros: It has got many different kind of links for children to connect to. All the links are placed on the sidebars, organised by subjects.
It posts the children’s work.
There are many comments from children via the RSS.
Cons: I find it a little difficult to orientate myself there. I’m not sure what level are the activities for.
Some of the links don’t work.
Àngels
I’ve seen Manuel Caicedo website.
It’s interesting how an English blog rules without sharing any photo or video from a school.
The whole blog is full of English actvities, so it can be a good tool for pupils.
The most important thing is to know why do we need a blog. Most of the schools use it to show what are they doing in their english class,I particularly like Montserrat school, and other like Splay shows an interactive work with students.Others are a complete list of resources, a bit complicate for the viewer to follow.
The theme is very important it’s a good way to catch your attention or the students curiosity.
Misericordia’s blog is very useful for parents in order to see their children’s activities but not for pupils because there aren’t interactive activities. Another not so positive aspect is the fact that all the explanations are written in Catalan.
Hello,
I’ve been looking into Escola Montserrat blog. It’s a web with a lot of different things to look at: links, stories, activities on line… on both sidebars. What I think is that is a web to show what is done at school and to practice English in diferent ways, but on the other hand there are not activities for children to learn in class.
Laura
I’ve visited CEIP Els Pins.
Pros: It’s quite well orginised and easy to get to the different levels. They’ve got a special one for newcomers.
Cons: I don’t find activities to interact with the teacher.
Mª Jesús
I have visited Teacher Marta’s blog.
Pros: there are many links for children to visit. I think it’s well organised, clear and atractive.
Cons: maybe it would be useful to present the categories by levels.
We have browsed “Learning English” blog and we considered that the good points are:
*Lots of videos with the pupils participating in different activities.
*Variety of resources (songs, videos and so on)
Cons:
*Disorganised
*Not very attractive appearance
*Not clear
I have visited the blog of Collserola school.
Pros: A lot of feedback from the students and their families. I like the videos and songs where you can see the students.
I’m sorry, no more time….

I think Escola el Rodonell blog is a really good one. They have examples of lots of activities they have done with the kids, useful links and activities that they can practice at home by their own, although I’m not sure teachers get a feedback of them.
