English for Y5 students

This last semester Y5 students have been working on la Seu’s map in order to learn how to give directions and also to be able to understand them. Now we can be certain that if we ever travel abroad we won’t get lost!
First, they had to locate the cathedral, the town hall, the sports center, a supermarket, a school, the hospital, a restaurant and a park.
Once the first part was finished, they had to pick 5 of this locations and they had to give directions to those places. The starting point was always Valira School.
Afterwards, they swapped their maps and directions with another group. They had to follow the directions given and discover the other’s group secret locations. All the groups did great!
Now we want to share our work with all of you. Do you want to try it out? You just have to follow the directions and find out where they lead you. Good luck!

Aquest últim trimestre els alumnes de 5è hem estat treballant el mapa de la Seu per tal d’aprendre a fer indicacions en anglès i també poder-les entendre. Ara podem estar segurs que si mai viatgem a l’estranger no ens perdrem!
Primerament, vam haver de situar al mapa la catedral, l’ajuntament, el poliesportiu, un supermercat, una escola, un hospital, un restaurant i un parc.
Un cop acabada la primera part, vam escollir 5 d’aquests llocs i vam donar indicacions per arribar-hi. El punt d’inici era sempre l’Escola la Valira.
Després, ens vam intercanviar els mapes i les indicacions amb un altre grup i vam haver de descobrir quins eren els 5 llocs secrets escollits per l’altre grup tot seguint les indicacions donades. Tots els grups ho van fer molt bé!
Ara compartim la nostra feina amb vosaltres. Voleu provar-ho? Només heu de seguir les indicacions i descobrir a on us porten. Bona sort!

Group 1 (Arnau, Erika, Marta, Jose and Juan):

1. Go straight on. Turn left on to Llorenç Tomàs i Costa Street. Go straight on. At the end turn left and turn right.

2. Go straight on. Turn right on to Setúria Street. Go straight on. Go past the park. At the end go straight on.

3. Go straight on. Turn right on to Setúria Street. Go straight on. It’s next to the school.

4. Go straight on. Take the eleventh left and turn right. At the roundabout take the third exit on to Sant Ot Street. Go straight on until the last roundabout. At the roundabout turn right and go straight on. Turn right on to Joanot Martorell Avenue. Take the second left. It’s opposite to the Homilies d’Organyà Park.

5. Go straight on. Turn right and go straight on until the end of Mare Janer Street.

Group 2: (Laia, Unai, Carolina and Ahmed)

1. Go past the Boixadera Park. Take the 3rd left and go past the Post Office. It’s opposite to the Cooperative.

2. Go straight on and take the 11th left and turn right on to Josep Zulueta Street. Go straight on. At the roundabout take the third exit on to Sant Ot Street and then turn right on to Jueus Street. At the end of the street turn left and take the 2n right. Go straight on. It’s next to the town hall.

3. Go straight on. Go past the Boixadera Park. Take the 3rd left. Go past the Post Office. Go straight on until the end of the street. It’s next to the roundabout.

4. Go straight on. Take the 5th left on to Circumval•lació Street. Turn right. Go past the Post Office. It’s opposite to the Cooperative.

5. Go straight on. Take the 6th left. It’s on your right.

Group 3: (Aina, Piotr, Hades and Baikal)

1. Go straight on. Take the 7th right. It’s on your right.

2. Go straight on. Take the 3rd left, take the 2n right. At the roundabout take the 2n exit and go straight on until the end of the street. At the roundabout take the third exit on to Sant Ot Street and go straight on until the end. It’s on your left.

3. Go straight on until the end of the street.

4. Go straight on. Take the 9th left. Go past the Post Office. It’s on your left.

5. Go straight on. At the end of the street turn left. Take the 5th left. It’s opposite to the Pharmacy.

Group 4: (Markus, Yeray, Sarai, Alejandro)

1. Go straight on. Then take the 10th left. It’s on your left.
2. Go straight on and take the 10th right. Then turn left and go straight on until the end of the street.
3. Go straight on. Take the 9th left. Go straight on and go past the roundabout. It’s on your right.
4. Go straight on. Take the 9th left and go past the Post Office. It’s on your left.
5. Go straight on. Take the 11th left. Go straight on and take the 4th right. Then go straight on. At the roundabout take the 2n exit, go straight on and take the 2n right. Take the 2n right again and go straight on. It’s on your left.
