Day 4

Wednesday 16th of June 2010

After 4 days in London, today we have visited the first place where we have had the chance to get a little closer to street art.

In the morning, as the daily routine, we all met at 8 o’clock in Arnos Grove station, where we caught the tube to go to Language in London, our school.

The class ended at 12.15 p.m. and we had to be ready at 1 p.m. at the meeting point, at the British Museum. We have walked to the underground station so as to arrive at London Bridge to take another train towards the South of London. Once at Norwood Junction, we have met Graham, a professional graffiti painter. He led us to his studio to show us how they work and how being involved in street art has changed his life. He has shown us how his graffiti work has become very successful; actually, he has worked for big companies as Microsoft, Orange, Nike… However, his favourite project is encouraging young people to not making graffiti in places where it’s not allowed and making their problematic lives more comfortable. At the end of the meeting, two students have had the opportunity to do graffiti of Banksy’s style with stencils.

In conclusion, we can say that this day has been a really interesting experience and we’ve learnt a lot about street art.
