Bob Dylan és un dels músics més influents en el món de la música rock i folk des de principis dels 60. “Blowing on the wind” és probablement la seva cançó més coneguda i més versionada al llarg dels anys.

La cançó explica un fet real del 4 de desembre de 1971. Deep Purple va anar a gravar un disc a Montreux (Canada). Abans que ells gravava un altre grup de l’època (Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention). En aquesta gravació algú va llançar una bengala que va provocar un incendi. Ells estaven en un hotel proper a l’altra banda del llac Geneva i des d’allà van veure tot el que va passar (“Smoke on the water, fire in the sky). L’edifici va quedar totalment destruït i van tenir que esperar alguns dies a gravar. Aquí teniu la lletra en anglès:
