In Unit 5, students reflect on Digital Age issues they have learned this year and choose one issue to address in their community. Our students work as a class or in small groups to set a goal for their Community Action Project. As they create their project, they research organizations that have worked to address the same issue. They take photos and videos to document their project from start to finish, and create a final presentation to share their CAP with their international peers.
Many of the issues that need improvement in communities are being adressed by various organizations: non-profits, NGOs and governmental.
Do basic internet research to identify organizations doing a similar work for example in your town hall website and then answer questions on page 80 of your workbook.
1. What is the name of the organization, and what issue do they work to address?
2. Why is their work important?
3. What is the goal?
4. Do they use technology to address their goal and how?
5. What challenges do they face?
6. What can we learn from their work that will help us with our community action Project?
Write a letter or a g-mail to contact these organizations and tell them about the Project that you are about to create asking for more information.
