Thanksgiving Day is traditionally a day for families and friends to get together for a special meal. The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables. Thanksgiving Day is a time for many people to give thanks for what they have.

 

Thanksgiving Day parades are held in some cities and towns on or around Thanksgiving Day. Some parades or festivities also mark the opening of the Christmas shopping season. Some people have a four-day weekend so it is a popular time for trips and to visit family and friends.

THANKSGIVING DAY IN THE USA

Today’s Thanksgiving celebrations are very different from the original 1621 harvest meal, but it continues to be a day for Americans to come together around the table to share autumn food with their families, and give thanks.

Thanksgiving day remembers the first party celebrated by the first English people in

America and the Indians together, to give thanks for their survival in the new world. This party was in 1621 near Plymouth.

Today, people celebrates Thanksgiving also to give thanks for all the good things they have in their lives.
