“Chrysanthemum” (Kevin Henkes)
The other day we read the book ‘Chrysanthemum’, by Kevin Henkes:
Chrysanthemum loves her name… until she goes to school, a place full of short names like Sue, Max, Sam and Joe. But it’s Victoria who really makes Chrysanthemum feel sad. How many letters have you got in your names?
Watch the story and see what happens when Chrysanthemum and the other children meet their music teacher, Mrs Twinkle.
Activity: We took turns crumpling up a big paper heart. We then tried to smooth it out but it never was quite the same. We put some Band-Aids on the heart and hanged it up as a visual to the importance of using kind words!
