Every winter, in a small town in Sweden, you can stay at a hotel made of ice! The hotel provides warm clothes and a sleeping bag because it is so cold inside. In spring, however, the hotel disappears! The ice melts, and the water flows back into the river. In winter the hotel is built again.

3rd graders carried out an experiment in the laboratory to find out about some basic properties of water: water is colourless (it has no colour), odourless (it has no smell) and tasteless (it has no flavour). They had to compare a glass of water and a glass of orangeade by looking at both liquids, smelling them and tasting them. Then they poured a bit of oil in the water and observed what happened: oil and water don’t mix because water is heavier than oil!
