In reply to you question I must say there are two basic reasons to me: the first one is connected to the relation between the school and the families, it is an excellent way of keeping the families informed about the learning process of their children. The second main reason is to motivate students and make them aware that English does not just exist at school.
My school has a PILE. One of the things we have to do is writing an English blog. I’m the person that do it, but I don’t know how exactly it works and even most important, I still don’t know how pupils can use it.
So, at this moment, I don’t know if it is useful… I hope so!
For children: Extra-practice at home. Show to families what they are doing. See their own productions. Get easy access to recommended links. Increase motivation. For homework.
For parents: Have a look at English classes, get familiar and participate.
For school: To show what we do in classes.
For me: To increase my contact with students and learn some technology. For fun!
Because I think it can be an atractive way to encourage students to use English and involve families to their children learning.
For me it can be a way to update myself and try to apply new tools to make my work more effective and creative.
Hi!
I’m Imma and I work as English teacher in L’Arenal de Llevant, in Poblenou. Our school is thinking about starting blogs in its new website and I’m currently working in a P.E.L.E. which is based on fostering and improving oral abilities.
So my English teacher mate and I thought I would be a useful tool to use a blog to reach this goal.
I currently run a personal English Blog, English in eMotion, where I offer resources for students and English teachers.
I’m eager to learn more!
I think it’s a good way to make my students participate in the activities I prepare for them on their own and from their houses. It can also be a good way to encourage them, as they love technology and they can do homework not just in their books, but also in their computers.
I like blogs and I really love nice blogs about my interests. Actually, I work on an English blog posted in the school webside, but I would like to start one by myself from the very begining in order to do activities with children and to post videos and pictures about things we do in class.
First to get in contact with my students, their parents can also look at the blog and , of course it’s important for other teachers to get in contact, get new ideas.
Well, in my opinion, creating a Blog is a useful resource to interact with our students outside the classroom and it also allows our students to be involved in online activities which are usually very attractive for them.
Apart from that, for me is an opportunity to be updated with new technologies.
Nowadays, we,teachers, need to explore other ways to make our classes more appealing and more catchy for our students. Blogs may be a great starting point to begin with this challenging task, right? ;p
We would like to interact with the students online and share information with them.
Creating an English Blog is useful to practice language in a different and more motivating way.

Creating an English blog is useful because you can bring English outside the school into the children’s homes.

To motivate, help the students participate and use the english language
I would like to know how to encourage students to post comments to the blog.
It’s useful because I can give my students extra activities
First to get in contact with my students, their parents can also look at the blog and , of course it’s important for other teachers to get in contact, get new ideas.
Give the children the opportunity to access to more materials in English.
