L’Instut de Castellbisbal participa en el Pla Experimental de Llengües Estangeres (PELE), que impulsa del Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Formar part d’aquest pla fa possible que el Centre pugui sol·lictar un auxiliar de conversa per a les classes de llengua estrangera que s’hi imparteixen. Enguany el centre va presentar un projecte per demanar un auxiliar de conversa en anglès, que permetés reforçar la pràctica oral d’aquest idioma treballant en petit grups i, sobretot, que oferís la possibilitat de practicar amb algú que tingués l’anglès com a llengua materna.
En Collin Smith va escollir el nostre centre d’entre les diferents opcions que se li van proposar, i així va ser com el mes d’octubre el Collin es va incorporar a l’Institut. Hi serà durant tot el curs i fa classes de conversa en grups de cinc o sis alumnes a diferents nivells. Perquè el pugueu conèixer una mica, la Nerea Garcia i la Carme Acuña, de 4t d’ESO, li han fet una entrevista en anglès que us reproduïm a continuació.

Do you mind if we interview you for the magazine of our school?
Where do you come from?
I’m from Minnesota in the northern part of the United States
Why did you come to Spain?
I studied here two years ago for 4 months (something like Erasmus) and I loved it so much I
decided I wanted to come back and live here longer.
How long have you live in Spain?
I have been living in Barcelona for about a year and a half.
Where do you live now?
Right now I live in Barcelona pretty close to the train station in Sants.
How about speaking in spanish and catalan?
I’ll tell you at the end of the year haha.
What do you think about the spanish traditions?
They’re all very interesting, a lot different than the ones we have in Minnesota but it’s always fun to learn
about different cultures and traditions.
What is your favourite food in Spain?
I love tortilla de patatas, pan con tomate, and calçots. Those are definitely my favorite Spanish foods!
Do you go to university in Spain?
Yeah. Currently I am going to the UAB in Bellaterra where I’m a masters in Corporate Communication.
We know that you’re an English language asistant in our school. What do you think about the students of this school?
Everyone has been really nice! I was really surprised with how well everyone accepted me as part of the
school and thanks to everyone for making it an easy transition for me.
What level you think we have in high school?
It’s quite good! It’s actually better than I thought it was going to be so I was pleasantly surprised.
You have started to teach volleyball in English in high school. How long have you been playing volleyball?
I’ve been playing volleyball competitively for 7 years.
What activities are you doing in the class of volleyball?
Right now, because we are just beginning, we are focusing on simple drills and technique, but we will
work up to more complicated activities later.
Do you play in a team? Which team?
Yeah, right now I play with a team in the first CYeah, right now I play with a team in the first Catalan
division called Element Prat-Barça. It’s a combination of two teams: one from Prat and one from Barça so

We have seen a videoclip in youtube in which you appear dressed as a priest. Could you explain that?
Haha you saw that? Well I’m a model here in Barcelona so that videoclip was for a modeling job that I did.
