On the 4th April 1968, 50 years ago, Martin Luther King, the black leader, was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, while he was standing at his motel’s balcony.
On that eve, on the 3rd April, he made a premonitory speech by stating that, as Moses, he had been allowed to see the promised land, but he wouldn’t live in it. He had made one of the most famous speeches on the 28 August 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, and our classmates reproduced it for us.
We were celebrating St George’s Day, and we went to the library to listen to them. They did it very well, and meanwhile, another student was showing pictures of King in different moments of his life. You can see what they did and you can also watch and listen to the whole speech.
