We went to the playground to test the new solar oven that some students had built. We put some bread with cheese inside and it melt!!!!! Then with a glass dish we tried to burn a newspaper but as was not very sunny and it was a bit windy it did not burn but we saw some smoke.

Last Wednesday 1er A ESO students went to the technology classroom. There, our teacher suggested us to make a solar oven. We accepted.

Our teacher gave us the necessary material:

1. Black cardboard

2. Foil

3. Cardboard box (1 small and 1 big)

4. Newspaper balls

5. Transparent paper

First we put the small cardboard box into the big cardboard box. Then, we put the newspaper balls in the big cardboard box and  the transparent paper on  cardboard box. After that, we put  sticks to support the cover and the foil inside the box. And finally we tried it !!!

We worked on saving energy. My group made a poster of a cell phone.

On the fifth of March 2014, we went to the technology workshop. It was time for “Scientists in action”:

We did four difference experiments:

The first one: Electricity using a chemical reaction. The chemical reaction with the iron or copper make electric charges and then make electricity.

The second one: Electricity using photovoltaic panels .The photovoltaic panels have electrons and when the sunlight impacts with the electrons of the photovoltaic panels, they move and generate electricity.

The third one :Electricity using electromagnetic method. We used a magnet and a wire that have electrons. We moved the magnet up and down. The electrons move and generate electricity.

And the fourth one: Electricity using the piezoelectric method. There is a little hammer that when we click on that, a spark goes out and it makes an electric impulse

First we watched an animation about the greenhouse effect. Then we worked in pairs to learn about this effect. Then we ordered some sentences about the greenhouse gases and some visuals. Finally,  we had to memorize a sentence to dub the animation we watched at the beginning of the session. And this is our recording! The greenhouse effect. Our recordings

Today we visit the bus of energies.

First one girl explains us the transport of the oil from one place to another place in Spain.

The name of this company is CLH.

The mission of CLH is also the distribution of fuel between places.

They export the fuel by  the car, the airoplane, the ship.

Their have some big  storage space in most  important cities. Because they don’t squander carbon dioxide.

Finish we make a game. We like it very much!

We are going to start a new project called: Sustainable Energy for Everybody. This project is about all types of energies, how we use them and how we should use this energies. We are also going to study the advantages and disatvantages and the difference between renewable energy and non-renewable energy. See what happenes…

Hem disfrutat de la xerrada de Mercè Romero, integrant de l’equip d’investigació astronòmica de la Universitat de Barcelona que ha obtingut el Premi Ciutat de Barcelona en els darrers mesos. Així us ho resumeix l’Eudald:

“Per poder descobrir la nostra galàxia, la ESA ha llençat un satèl.lit anomenat Gaia, que té la missió d’observar i recollir informació per aconseguir una imatge en 3D de la nostra galàxia, tot i que només observarà un 1% d’ella mateixa. Trigarà cinc o set anys a fer tota aquesta tasca. La sonda es mou gràcies a uns petits propulsors que gasten menys que un assecador de cabells. Gaia té col.locades 100 càmares que són de dos tipus: té fotòmetres per verificar el color de l’objecte i espectòmetres que determina la velocitat i la direcció de l’objecte. Fa 25 fotos cada milisegon. Gaia no només observa estels, també planetes extrasolars i meteorits. Està situada al punt L2, que és un dels 5 punts amb gravetat zero, essent així perfecte per observar els estels amb un cost mínim.”
