Visit to “CREA”
1esoaalumne | 14 març 2014On Thursday, boys and girls of 1st ESO went to Centre de Recerca d’Energies Alternatives (CREA) in the university. We visited the premises. First we visited the Heat pump: The heat pump is a machine that takes hot water and converts it into cold water: This cold water is used to keep the building cool.
Then we visited the room of cogeneration: The room of cogeneration compresses and burns gas, producing electricity: The waste (hot water and hot oil) is used in winter.
Next we visited the solar kitchen: The solar kitchen is made of four photovoltaic cells, two in the cooking pot and the other two in the parabolic. The cooking pot can be inside the house and the parabolic outside.
Next the photovoltaic cells: the photovoltaic cells are made of electrons. When one photovoltaic cell gets the sunlight, it spreads to the other photovoltaic cells.
Finally we visited the thermal unit: The thermal unit is made of a lot of tubes without air inside, covered with selective cover. Inside the tubes there is a thin copper tube. Inside the copper tube there is a heat tube full of water that transports it to all the tubes.
