AN EVENING AT THE THEATRE
Last Thursday we went to Barcelona to see a musical at Victoria Theatre. We took the bus at 3 o’clock and it took us an hour to get there. Before the musical we knew it was going to be fun because we had done some research on the play and we had also seen the film Montty Phyton’s “The knights of the Square Table”. Spamalot is based on this film and El Tricicle have taken it to the theatre. The show has two parts separated by a fifteen minute break. In the first part, King Arthur has to find the Holy Grail and he has to convince his knights because they are a little lazy. In the second part, they meet lots of crazy characters who help them achieve their goal. The funniest character is Sir Gallahan because he wants to be a strong knight but he behaves like a musical star. The story is much better thanks to the actors and actresses outstanding singing and dancing. Spamalot is so funny that most of us could not stop laughing although some of the jokes were not easy to understand. There are many references to things of our culture and that makes the show more entertaining to the audience from Barcelona. The best moment of the show for us was when one of our teachers was taken to stage because he was sitting on the first row and he had to help King Arthur to find the Holy Grail. At the end of the show we could talk to the actor who acts as King Arthur and we could also go into the main characters’ dressing rooms and see the atmosphere in the backstage. It was a great opportunity to see many aspects of a musical and we are really thankful to our teachers for giving us the chance of living an evening at the theatre from a different point of view.
