The day we went to see Spamalot in Teatre Victòria was a great opportunity to ask the audience some questions abouth the famous Monty Python’s musical show, and here are the conclusions we got.

1. Where are you from?

Most of the people who were interviewed were from schools from Manresa and Badalona . There were two foreign people who were on holiday in Barcelona and another girl from the Basque country. We think that there are no more foreign people because the musical is in Spanish and there are no subtitles in other languages.

2. How often do you go to the theatre?

Spectators who were also student go to the theatre about three times a year whereas the ones who were not try to go once a month. This might be because of the price of tickets.

3. Do you enjoy musicals?

Everybody who answered our questions said that they enjoy musicals.  

4. Is this your first musical?

Spamalot was the first musical for most of the students interviewed although some of them had already seen two or three musicals in a theatre.

5. Which others have you seen?

The most seen musicals are Grease and Mamma Mia, probably because they have been in Barcelona for a long time. Two other people have seen The Phantom of the Opera in Broadway and “Hoy no me puedo levantar” in Madrid.  

6. Are you a fan of Monty Phyton?

Only two of the people interviewed were a fan of Monty Phyton. We think it is more popular among older people and that is why they didn’t have so many fans among the audience.  

7. What do you think about the story of Spamalot?

Everybody thinks it is an original funny story because there are a lot of nonsense dialogues and it makes laugh a lot.

8. What’s your favourite character?

Lancelot is people’s favourite character. One girl also answered that the main singer is her favourite actress. The reason for Lancelot’s success is probably his huge presence on stage and his powerful voice. He is also one of the funniest characters in the show because of his uncovered homosexuality.

9. Do you think this is a successful musical around the world?

Some people do not know the answer but most of them know that Spamalot is very famous in london and in Broadway.

10. Would you like to see it in its original language (English)?

People think the original version is always better but they are afraid they wouldn’t understand the story if the show was in English.

11. Would you see Spamalot again?

Absolutely everybody who was interviewed would like to see the show again. There was one girl who had already seen Spamalot last month and wanted to see it again before it finishes. We agree with them because it was fun and entertaining!
