Visita al refugi antiaeri de Tortosa

Our students in grade 4 (in Catalan 4t ESO D, itinerari humanístic i artístic) took part in a lecture in English about the civil war at Ernest Hemingway street in Tortosa, where  one of the biggest anti raid shelters is located,  built in spring 1938.  They had been learning previously about this famous writer (Pulitzer prize and Nobel prize for literature) who wrote some important chronicles about the bombing of Tortosa for the New York Times. Also, a tale related to the bombing of the Amposta pending bridge. It was quite interesting as they could read the informative panels and see the impressive pictures of the destruction of Tortosa by both the German and Italian air forces.

L’alumnat de 3r B, com a activitat del Servei Comunitari, ha volgut fer un mural per reivindicar el Dia Internacional de les Dones. Al mural hi som representades les 552 dones que formem part de l’Institut Dertosa (alumnes, professores, PAS i personal de neteja).

Aquesta no serà l’única actuació que es portarà a terme a l’Institut relacionada amb el 8 de març, el Departament de Visual i Plàstica està preparant diverses activitats que podrem anar veient durant tot el mes de març.

Tot seguit teniu un petit vídeo on alumnat de 3r ens explica breument què reivindiquem aquest dia.

Dia Internacional de la Dona

L’alumne Lluc Carles, de 1r de batxillerat E (artístic), ha estat l’autor del logotip que li va encarregar la Regidoria de Cultura de l’Ajuntament de Campredó, que serà usat com a imatge dels actes de commemoració del Dia Internacional de la Dona Treballadora. A la imatge creada per Lluc s’han incorporat 8 frases reivindicatives del paper de la dona a la nostra societat. Felicitem Lluc Carles per la seua capacitat creativa, i ens congratulem per l’oportunitat que li han donat des de l’esmentat ajuntament.

The International Working Women’s Day

Our Students in grade 4 (4t ESO D humanístic, in Catalan) held an interesting online lecture in English on Thursday 4th March to talk about the International Working Woman’s Day. They watched several short films on women in Asian countries, whose life goes through great legal difficulties related to forced marriages or sexual harassment. The lesson can be watched online in the following link.

George Orwell’s life and work

Several first class of Baccalaureate students have been studying George Orwell’s life and work, one of the greatest 20th century British writers, who wrote lots of books about civil rights and people’s dignity. Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950), known by his pen name George Orwell, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist and critic.His work is characterised by lucid prose, biting social criticism, opposition to totalitarianism and outspoken support of democratic socialism. He published Homage to Catalonia, after his experience in spring 1937 during the Civil War. After watching this video we can get a good insight about his writing style and the ideals he supported during his professional career as a journalist and a writer.

3 alumnes premiats al Petjades

Un total de 16 alumnes de 4t d’ESO i 1r de Batxillerat del nostre centre van prendre part en la segona edició del premi Petjades, amb relats sobre memòria històrica, que organitza el col·lectiu de de mestres DEMDE-Ebre i l’Associació Amics i Amigues de l’Ebre. S’hi han presentat un total de 80 obres d’un total d’11 centres d’ensenyament secundari d’arreu de les Terres de l’Ebre. Tres dels nostres alumnes han resultat guanyadors, cosa que ens satisfà notablement, els qual mereixen la nostra més orgullosa felicitació.
El primer premi es va concedir a l’obra “El Soroll de la por” d’Ona Campoy Pallarés, de 4t ESO B del nostre centre. El segon premi se l’emportà l’alumne Ignasi Bel, de l’institut Ramon Berenguer d’Amposta, amb el relat Memòries. Finalment, els dos tercers premis van ser per a alumnes nostres igualment. Concretament, per als relats “Escapant del desastre”, d’Èric Serres, de 4t eso B, i la narració en anglès “Inside the cage”, de Lucia Monche Villar de 4t ESO D.
El jurat va estar format pels professors:Teresa Castelló, de l’Institut de Flix; Àngels Pérez, del Centre de Recursos de la Terra Alta; Joana Subirats, de l’Institut Roquetes; Marc March, d’Amics i Amigues de l’Ebre; Felip Monclús, de l’institut Despuig; Emigdi Subirats, de l’institut Dertosa; Carme Maigí, de l’institut Ramon Berenguer; i Màrius Pont, del Departament de Benestar Social de la Generalitat.
L’aposta per la recuperació de la memòria històrica des dels centres educatius agafa empenta vora l’Ebre.

Translation of Ernest Hemingway’s tale “The old man at the bridge”

Some 15-year-old students in 4th high school grade (4t ESO, in Catalan), who are following both humanistic and artistic studies, have made an outstanding translation of Ernest Hemingway’s tale, “The man at the bridge”, based on the devastating bombing of the Amposta hanging bridge in spring 1938. They have also made some very beautiful drawings and pictures in order to recreate one of the saddest moments of the 1936-1939 Civil War in our region.
Besides, during the month of May they will be recording the same tale in both Catalan and English. Thus, they are going to complete their work about one of the most moving narrative story of the bloody war. 1954 Nobel Prize winner Ernest Hemingway wrote some of the most outstanding articles in the North American press in April 1938, after witnessing the terrible bombings that took place in the lower Ebro region.

Entrevista als guanyadors del premi Petjades

Sílvia Tejedor ha entrevistat els quatre guanyadors dels II Premis Petjades. Tres dels premiats estudien al nostre institut. Són Ona Campoy, Èric Serres i Lucía Monche, de 4t d’ESO. Un goig escoltar les seues reflexions sobre la memòria del passat per a construir un futur basat en la convivència i en la dignitat de totes les persones.

Memorial democràtic

L’Àrea Educativa del Memorial Democràtic ha organitzat una nova activitat adreçada a estudiants de secundària per donar a conèixer l’exili del 39. Es tracta de la projecció de la pel·lícula Josep (Aurel, 2020) i una conversa posterior amb el director del film.
El visionat a les aules es farà durant la setmana del 26 al 30 d’abril. Per tal de facilitar la tasca dels docents que vulguin realitzar aquesta activitat a les aules, es programaran passis en diferents horaris.

A més de la projecció, divendres, 30 d’abril, el director del Memorial Democràtic, Jordi Font, conversarà amb Aurel, el director i dibuixant de la pel·lícula. L’entrevista es basarà en preguntes fetes pels mateixos estudiants.

The old man at the bridge

Our students in Grade 4, who are following their humanistic or artistic studies (in Catalan 4t ESO humanístic/artístic), have made a recording based on the historical tale “The old man at the bridge” by American 1954 Nobel Prize Winner Ernest Hemingway. It was based on the bombing of the Amposta bridge during the 1936-1939 Civil War.
After reading the tale and analysing its historical messages, a few of them translated it into Catalan. Finally, a video in both English and Catalan was recorded on the bank of the river.
