“Should we take exams?”

Most of Spanish schools evaluate their students with exams. The teacher comes to the class, explains the lesson, the student has to memorize it and then answer some questions in an exam. But, when the student has done the exam, does he remember what he studied?

First of all, glad to say that I study in a different primary school where I didn’t take any exams and I strongly believe that I learnt a lot. As far as I am concerned, I think that teachers should explain the lessons by using different techniques and explaining it with desire. “Childs learn more listening than memorizing”, I totally agree with this statement, because in my experience I have learnt more doing projects than memorizing every subject syllabus.

Many people believe that children don’t learn if they don’t take exams but from my point of view this is absolutely wrong. If childs listen to a person who is determined to explain something, they will be attending classes and they will learn a lot. But if they are listening to a person who is bored of explaining, I am convinced that they will stop listening. Moreover, if they have to memorize all the information and then throw it up, the students will delete all that information of their brains. So when they end the school year they won’t have learnt anything.

To sum up, if teachers use other techniques to evaluate their students, for example, do some researches or projects, and explain their subject with desire, the students will learn more than doing daily homework and weekly exams.
