This year, our school participates for the first time in an international project called Global Scholars.
Global Scholars is an international online learning project that connects students in cities around the world and prepares them to become the next generation of global citizens. Engaging in activities both in the classroom and online, students ages 10-13 interact with their international peers, develop 21st century skills, and ultimately gain a broader perspective on the global world in which they live.
Each year, Global Scholars provides an original curriculum focused on a different topic of global concern, ranging from health and nutrition to environmental sustainability. This year, the project is called Building Better Cities and it deals on the challenges big citiesface, including climate change and growing populations, and how these impact our environment.
Global Scholars are students in cities around the world who communicate withtheir peers across continents and oceans, take an active interest in local and global issues, and work to improve their cities and the world. Being Global Scholars, our students gain global perspective as they share ideas and experiences through discussion forums and develop multimedia projects such as documentary videos and digital presentations. Students ultimately use their knowledge to improve their own communities and the world.
In the following video, the BisbeBerenguer’s 2nd of ESO students involved in the project explain what it means to them being a Global Scholar and what they would like to teach other Global Scholar from all over the world about L’Hospitalet and Barcelona.
