Joseph in pharaoh’s court

Joseph‘s in Pharaoh’s court is a combination, a hybrid from our particular adaptation of the famous musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with mixtures of the zarzuela La corte del Faraón by Vicente Lleo. From this point of view, it has sense because both plays are about the same issue of the Biblical story of Joseph. Here, we combine the elements of both musicals, although the ones corresponding to the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber have much more presence in our play.
We have chosen the English language because we wanted to write a piece in English designed especially for our students. The play has got a double aim: pedagogical (the active practice of English) and artistic (providing a quality product at international level). The response from our students has been great and we think the objectives have been fully achieved.
An English musical with a touch of zarzuela: this is our bold proposal. We consider it a bit freaky, and when we say so, we say it without frivolity. We say it with the aim to show you a very professional job done with much effort and enthusiasm. But we could not help it… the result has turned out to be a little freakish.
