On Monday 18th of February, the Dutch people and the science students went to ”
Collserola
Park” to see the different vegetation of
Catalonia. We had to meet at Rubí train station at 9 o‘clock. When all the students arrived, we caught the train to “Baixador de Vallvidrera” and we went to the park. We stayed at the entrance of the park for a short time o eat something and make groups of two Dutch persons and two Spanish persons. The teachers gave us a paper to do activities and a machine to calculate the temperature. It was raining and it was very cold… Afterwards we walked a lot, and we went to see a documentary. When the documentary finished we returned to Rubí.
All the people went house to have lunch and we stayed in until 5:30 in the afternoon, when we met in St. Patrick’s bar, a bar where we meet all these days and spend a long time, because we like to stay together. The bar is in the centre of Rubí, and the Dutch people like it. Some Spanish people stayed in the bar with the Dutch students because they know already the dance that the Spanish girls will have to do the next day atthe party. The rest of us went to one girl’s home to practise the performance a little bit because some Spanish girls have to go on excursion with the Dutch and won’t be able to practise. We rehearsed a little bit and some of us went to St. Patrick’s to meet the Dutch people to go home because later we were going to have dinner at a Chinese restaurant near the theatre
La Sala. Some people went to buy the things to do “Cabaret” the next afternoon and afterwards to “Esbart” because some of our classmates sang and danced there. When the recital finished we went to the restaurant, we had dinner, we laughed…together and when we finished we had a problem: to pay, but finally we could pay and some people went home to sleep because it was 1 o ‘clock and the teachers had told us to be early at home and some people stayed a little bit more speaking in the street.

February, 17th

Today has been a relaxed day because it was Sunday and we had free day! So we could do what we wanted to. In the morning, some students of the exchange went to
Barcelona, to visit Parc Güell . It was very funny, because we went without teachers so we had to do like them, and the weather was really good. Before visiting Parc Güell, we went to Maremagnum where we went to look some shops and to have lunch, it was fantastic. Some students stayed at home or some others went shopping to Terrasa, and at six o’clock, we met all together at the station to think about what we were going to do. Some of them wanted to go to the disco, but those who had gone to Parc Güell didn’t want to go, because they were very tired, so at the end, we went to a bar near the station all together, and we spent there all the evening until eight o’clock, more or less. There, we had a good time speaking with others, dancing, and playing football. It was very nice because they are very nice people.

Saturday 16th February

Today is Saturday so everyone has done different things in the morning. For example, my partner and I have been at a really interesting basketball match between Regina Carmeli, my brother’s team, and Sant Jordi, which both are teams of Rubí. Then we went shopping in Rubí to the “mercadillo”, like a market in the street where they sell clothes.

In the afternoon, many people went to a disco in
Sabadell called “Kiss me”. We met at 5:30pm at the train station and then we went by train to
Sabadell. We didn’t pay because we had “flyers” which were provided by some friends. I had never been in a disco before and I liked it more than I thought. In the disco there were only teenagers and the atmosphere was good. The music was good because they played different kinds of music. For example, when I went in they were playing “Volverán” a song by “El Canto del Loco”, a Spanish pop group. Later, they played “Please don’t stop the music” of Rihanna and they also played reggaeton. We danced a lot until 11pm when the disco closed. Then we have came back to Rubí by train.

On Friday we went with all the students of 1st Batxillerat on excursion to
Barcelona. First, we went skating until 12 a.m. There many of us learned to skate and others practiced their skating. More or less at 12 a.m. we went away to the

Barça
Museum where we could contemplate prizes photographs and other objects of the Football Club Barcelona. After this, we went sightseeing in
Barcelona, we walked around the Gothic neighborhood and we finished the tour in the cathedral. Later, we had free time to eat or go shopping. When we arrived in Rubí we went to the school to practice “Cabaret”, while our partners were playing football outside or talking at their leisure. When we finished practicing, we went to Santa Fé to have something. Santa Fé is a bar that one finds near the institute. At 8.30 p.m. some of us went to a basketball training session and others were sitting down in the steps. Before the training session was over they left to prepare everything to have superb at the “Pà Màgic” and later to spending a while at the Saint Patrick’s where we all met.

On Thursday, the Dutch students and part of Spanish students met at the train station at 9:00 to go to
Barcelona. When we arrived in
Barcelona, we took the ‘metro’ and went to Sagrada Familia. At first, we stayed outdoor of the cathedral having breakfast and taking photos, and then, a guide, came with us, to show us the inside of the Sagrada Familia, and she explained its history, curiosities…After that, we went by ‘metro’ to the Picasso museum. When we arrived, we saw a big demonstration in the street, and then, we went to the museum and we made two groups to visit the museum, and while we were waiting to enter, we had lunch and went to the shops. In general, the museum was interesting; it was very big and there were a lot of beautiful pictures. After the museum, we went to the centre of
Barcelona: Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya… and we had a long time for shopping, visiting interesting places, and a little bit to relax. At 4:30, we met at Canaletas (Ramblas) with all the students and the teachers to take the train and return to Rubí. We arrived at 5:30 more or less and the other part of Spanish students were waiting at the train station, and then all of us went to the bar ‘Sant Patrick’s’ and stayed all the evening talking and having a good time. At 9:30 all of us, went home. It was had a great day.

On Wednesday we went to the school at 8 o’clock in the morning. The Dutch students were doing different activities with the teachers while we were doing our ordinary classes. It’s the bad thing of the exchange doing classes while the others were laughing. However, we saw all of the Dutch people in the break. After the break we went on  doing some boring lessons. But the last hour, we were surprised to see that our philosophy teacher hadn’t come. Then, we went to see the Dutch people that were doing physical education with some of the students. They played different sports. I did the same activities the last week, so I can explain what they did. They played basketball but with a rugby ball, they also played hockey and football but they had to pass the ball in a strange way. After P.E everybody went to their home for lunch.

In the afternoon we met at the station. We didn’t know where we wanted to go. And finally, everybody went to Terrassa. Dutch people love shopping for clothes. Some of the boys bought the same t-shirt, but they didn’t show it to us. They said that it was a secret. After going around all the shops in Terrasa that we liked, we went to Rubi. There we decided to go to St. Patrick’s. We like this bar because we can speak and ask for something to drink. After the bar we went to our homes for dinner and sleep, because we needed to rest because on the next day we had to go to
Barcelona for the first time.

We started the classes at 8 o’clock, Rubi people had normal lessons until 12:25h while the Dutch people had Catalan lessons, where our teachers taught them the elementary words.
At 12:25 all the people of the exchange learned to dance a few steps of tango and cha cha cha cha – they’re typical Spanish dances. It was fun. And then, at the last hour, Rubí people did normal lessons and the Dutch students watched a video about Picasso’s life.

When the classes finished, some people decided to go to eat at Vanessa’s house. We descended by bus, and once we were there, we ate pizza and macaroni.

After lunch, we played with Singstar. We had a good time.

And finally, at 6 more or less we went to the station because we had to meet the rest of the group. And we went to Terrassa by train because some people wanted to go shopping.

And at 8, more or less we came back home.

On Monday, we did a tour around Rubí with the Dutch people. First, we went to the Castle. The Dutch students and the teachers went inside the castle, but we did not. We waited for them outside and when they came out, all of us had breakfast. Then, we went to the church. Again, we waited for them outside and they came inside to see St. Pere’s church. The Spanish teacher explained some things which could be interesting to them. Later, we went to the Catalunya square and we saw the Casino. Here, some people got money from the cash dispenser. Then, we went to an old house, near the Casino, the name of which is Ateneu. Here, nobody went in, only our teacher explained some things. Finally, we went to the city hall and the mayor received us. We had to wait for her half an hour, more or less. Then, we went inside the city hall, the mayor said a few words and they gave us a present. Later, we went home with our partner.
