– We use the past simple for things that happened in the past (finished actions)
AFFIRMATIVE
SUBJECT + VERB IN PAST
-> REGULAR VERBS -> INFINITIVE + -ED
-> IRREGULAR VERBS – CHECK THE PAST FORM
Ex: I travelled to London two years ago / I won the lottery
NEGATIVE
SUBJECT + DIDN’T + INFINITIVE
Ex: He didn’t go to school when he was a child
QUESTIONS
DID + SUBJECT + INFINITIVE
Ex: Did he use a mobile phone?
SHORT ANSWERS
YES, HE DID / NO, HE DIDN’T
PAST CONTINUOUS
USE
– We use the Past Continuous to talk about an action in progress in the past
FORM
WAS/ WERE + _____ING -> I /he /she /it was reading
You /we /they were reading
AFFIRMATIVE
SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + VERB WITH –ING
Ex: I was singing in the shower yesterday at 10 o’clock
NEGATIVE
