Past Continuous


We use the Past Continuous to talk about an action in progress in the past.We usually use it together with Past Simple: edgdyegdyuegd

AFFIRMATIVE

SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + verb with –ING

Ex: I was singing in the shower yesterday at 10 o’clock.

NEGATIVE

SUBJECT + WASN’T/WEREN’T + VERB WITH –ING

Ex: He wasn’t (was not) sleeping when the thieves broke in, so he fought against them.

QUESTIONS

WAS/WERE + SUBJECT + VERB WITH –ING …?

Ex: Were you sleeping when the phone rang?
