Estanflació és un terme creat l’any 1965 pel ministre de Finances britànic, Ian McLeod, en un discurs al Parlamento, va dir:
“We now have the worst of both worlds — not just inflation on the one side or stagnation on the other, but both of them together. We have a sort of “stagflation” situation. And history, in modern terms, is indeed being made.”
(Ara tenim el pitjor dels dos mons: no només inflació per un costat o estancament per l’altre, sinó ambdues alhora. Tenim una espècie d’ “estanflació”. I s’està fent, en termes moderns, història).
