BROOKFIELD SCHOOL – CAMÍ DEL CROS SCHOOL

Hello, my name is Katie Sandler and I am fifteen years old. I live in Chesterfield and I came to Mataró for a Spanish exchange with my school, Brookfield. For two days of the trip I did work experience at Cami del Cross School. During my work experience I was able to communicate with the children in lessons and in the playground, helping them to improve their English. I also observed Spanish and Catalán lessons, helped students with their classwork and took part in preparing and presenting a dialogue about the cinema, in Spanish. All the activities I did were very enjoyable and I had a lot of fun. Both the teachers and children were always very welcoming, polite and friendly. They made me feel very comfortable and I had a lovely time. It was interesting to see how a Spanish school works in comparison with my school at home. For example, the timetable is very different here. I liked Cami del Cross a lot because it was very colourful and bright, it was a lot prettier than Brookfield. Something I liked in particular was that in the lower key stages, each class chooses a theme at the start of the year and works towards creating displays based on that theme throughout the year. I think English is taught very well there as the teachers and students are excellent at it. I am very grateful to have been able to come to a brilliant school!
