Climate Voices 2050 is an eTwinning project for students aged 16–18, developed in English and involving schools from different European countries. The project aims to give students the opportunity to explore climate change and sustainability from a local and European perspective. Students will investigate how climate change is affecting their own communities and environments, share their observations and experiences with peers from other European countries, and work together to imagine how our communities might look in 2050. A central idea of the project is that climate change is a global challenge, but its effects can be observed in our own neighbourhoods, towns and regions. By comparing different European realities, students will discover both the similarities and differences in the environmental challenges faced by young people across Europe. The project will be based on communication, collaboration and creativity. Students will participate in discussions with their European peers, exchange ideas and experiences, produce creative texts, make recordings and take part in collaborative activities. English will be used as the common language, giving students an authentic context in which to develop their communication skills. One of the main challenges will be to imagine Europe in 2050. Working collaboratively, students will create visions of sustainable communities and reflect on questions such as: What will our towns and cities look like? How will people travel? What will we eat? How will we produce energy? How will nature be protected? What role will young people play in creating a more sustainable future? The project will focus primarily on Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Climate Action**, while also establishing connections with other SDGs, particularly those related to sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption, quality education, life below water and life on land. Through the project, students will develop not only their English language and digital skills, but also their ability to communicate, collaborate internationally, think critically, express their ideas creatively and become more aware of their role as European citizens. The final outcome will bring together the students’ voices and visions of the future, creating a collective European vision of what sustainable communities could look like in 2050. Climate Voices 2050 seeks to create an active international learning community in which students do not simply learn about climate change, but observe it, discuss it, imagine solutions and give their own voice to the future of Europe.
