2. Yes, but I would have to use more the phone box.
3. Already not more, because it always broken.
4. Now I have a mobile that don’t have all the aplications that have a new mobile.
My mobile doesn’t have camera, music…
5. Now no, but when I had the other mobile yes, because now I only have the mobile to call and to send messages., but when I have the other mobile I taked photos, I listened music…
6. Is very different from the descriptions in my book, because in Spain people use the mobile in every sites: On the public transport, on the street, in cafés, in restaurants, when they meal… They doesn’t matter for them, and in other countries people have more respect.

However, we would like to point out that the questions were a guide to help you express your opinion about mobiles. So, the next time please try to put all your questions together and write a small text.
See you on Monday
Jaume and Eva
My mobile phone is very important to me because if I have an emergency I can connect easily with people; I couldn’t imagine living without my mobile phone, but if not I would have to get used without it. I change my mobile phone every half a year because when I’m a lot of time using the same, bores me. No, because for example my phone has a TV but I can not use this application. Yes, I’m a mobile phone addict. Every hour I’m looking my phone, maybe someone sent me an sms. I think in my city every person lives their world. Therefore, in the street, nobody will be listening to telephone conversations of others.
Clara,
I don’t think you are a mobile addict but a member of a generation that has grown with gadgets and the mobile is an important one. It brings you the possibility to listen to music, take pictures that you can see and share with your friends immediately. However, I recommend you to watch TV on a bigger screen.
Thank you for taking part in the discussion!
I’m not a mobile phone addict because I use it only to locate me, take photos, see the hour and listen to music but I never use internet in my mobile. I sometimes call my friends or send a message. Now, I can’t imagine my live without mobile because I am used to carry it.
Spanish people is very diferent to french, japenese and english people because if we are with friends and call us, we say ‘excuse me’ and speak in front friends. We speak for the mobile in public places and the other people don’t mind, but we are similar in don’t want to people will listen our conversations.
Hi Alba,
First of all just a question is the mobile that locates you? Please tell me the mobile you’ve got because I’m interested in. I agree when you say Spanish people are very different and when you say you like privacy. I consider a phonecall as something private and I don’t like overhear consersations I’m not involved in.
Thank you very much for your message!
1. I think that my mobile phone is very important for me because is a way to comunicate.
2. yes, I can becouse there are others ways to comunicate, for example internet.
3. I only change my mobile phone when it’s broken becouse I don’t considerate very important thing.
4. No, I don’t because I only use the music aplication.
5. No I am not because I don’t need it.
6. In our country, young people use the mobile phone to send mesages but other people use it to call.
1.- Moblie is very important for me because if I want to talk with a friend or a friend want to talk with me, if they phone, i’ll answer it because i wear it everywhere.
2.- I can imagine my life without my mobile because I can live without my mobile phone.
3.- I change it when my mobile get old or if it’s broken; a few months ago one car run over my mobile phone and it still working 😀
4.- No, because the mobile phones have got a lot of applications and I think that nobody use all of moblie phone applications because it have a lot of applications and it’s difficult to learn how to use ALL of it.
5.- No, but i think it’s very useful because if you wear it, all your friends can call and localize you and you can do the same with all your friends if they wear it.
6.- In my country the typical use of our mobile phones is for call and send text messages. It’s different because in the other countries there are a lot of laws for the use of mobile phone and here in Spain, there isn’t.
When I had no mobile phone, I could do without it, but now that I’m used to it, I consider it an indispensable tool for me. It doesn’t only allow me to be keep in touch with my family or my friends, but also keeps me company: when I’m waiting for somebody to arrive, I listen to music on it or I take pictures of people passing by.
If I’m sincere, I’ve ony had 3 kinds of mobile phones in life, and everytime I changed them was because they stopped working properly. I don’t mind if my mobile is old-fashioned, I mean, I’m not one of those kind of people who get bored of the things they have and buy and buy and buy. I’m not a spender and I really appreciate the things I have: I’m very fond of my mobile phone! I use all the applications it has: music player, games, movie-maker… even the radio! Many people say that I’m a mobile phone addict, and I think they’re not wrong! (I remember that Nataly Briggs used to say: “there’s always music in Marta’s pocket”).
In Spain, people are not frowned upon using mobile phones on public sites. As far as I’m concerned, it would be really weird to walk round the street and find out that nobody has a phone on their ear! It’s quite typical in big cities to be a mobile phone addict, isn’t it?
1) My mobile phone is important for comunicate whit my family and the most important whit my freinds.
2) Is difficult imagine my life without my mobile, but I don’t use the mobile all the day.
3) Buuuuuf! I change my mobile every (at least) two years, but this summer I pass another company and send me a new mobile for only nine €.
4) I don’t use all the applications, the basics for example: call, send the “sms” and sometimes take a photos, because I use the ipod for lisen to music
5) Never, never I’m addict to mobile, because normally in day send two or three “sms”.
6) In Spain every person is a world… and I don’t know who are this habits, but for put any example my mum call me twenty time a day!!
for me the mobile phone is not very important because nowadays we have another ways to communicate with my friends. I think that I can live without my mobile phone. I change my mobile phone when it is broken,I think that to have the most fashionable mobile phone it’s not very important, the most important think is to call with them but I normally change my phone once a year. I don’t use all the applications that my mobile phone has, I often use the camera of my mobile but only when I forget to bring my camera. I think that I’m not addict to it, because I only use my mobile phone when it’s necessary.
In my opinion the typical use of mobile it’s very different than in the other countries because here we use the mobile phone in all the places without respecting the other people.
aiii friends!
1)
My mobile it’s an important think for me because I have one until I was a child and, know, I need it for a lot of things like comunicate with people..call at the work…I don’t really know why but, I know that I need it.
2)
I can do It because when I’m empty of credit I don’t use it, only for people who calls me.
Answering, It’s really really difficult for me to imagine without it, like I said in first question, I have one until I was a child.
3)
I only change It when I lose it or when it’s broke, no following the new models or the “supermegafashion” models. Normal people only use it to take photographs, send sms and call, thats all!! Or not?
I don’t need an expensive phone.
4)
I don’t know how but I always answer the questions after Jaume!!
Like I said in question 3, I don’t use all that a mobile have.
I only call, send missages and take photographs.
I’m a cheaper soon Jaume!
5)
I’m not a phone addict, well, we can considerate that I’m addict if we say; If you can’t live without it, you’re an addict, in this aspect… I’m quite addict, because I need it to comunicate with my parents, friends, girlfriend… but I’m not all day calling on the mobile.
6)
Here, In spain, we use it everywhere, we haven’t any rule but comparing with the examples on the book we’re very different, here we use it when we’re in group.. dinning with the family..everywhere and all the time.
1. What does your mobile mean for you?
I only use my mobile when I need to speak something important with someone.
2. Can you imagine your life without your mobile?
I think that yes, because I don’t need my mobil all the time.
3. How often do you change it? Why?
when my contract finished. Because It’s cheaper for me.
4. Do you use all the applications they have? (Explain if your answer is negative)
No, I don’t. I only use the calls, sms, camera, to listen music, alarm and calculator.
5. Are you a mobile phone addict? Why?
No, because I don’t need my mobil during at all the time.
6. Can you describe the typical use of mobile phones in our country? Is it similar to, or different from the descriptions in your book?
In general, spanish people use their mobil phones in everywhere and all the time. It’s so different for me.
Miriam,
I think you’ll save a lot of money if you go on using your mobile as you are doing now!
Marc,
Wow! It’s amazing to know you’ve had a mobile since you were a child. Could you imagine a world without a mobile? What would you do?
Thank you for your comments!
For me my mobile phone is very important, because I think that it’s something necessary for communicating.
I could imagine a life without a mobile phone before but nowadays I can’t imagine it.
I change my phone quite often because I lose it a lot.
I use sms, games and most of all music.
I’m addicted to my mobile phone because I can bring the music with me everywhere and I can always communicate.
Here we don’t care about speaking on the phone in public, but we also text a lot.
I think that this country is similar to the way they use phones in Paris.

:@ sa ma esborrat tot!!!
1. nothing, only a phone wich I can take every where.
2.Yes, be the same but with more relax.

4. No Becouse I don’t need spend all of my valious time using all of the aplications when I can use these time leraning english 😎 or sleeping wich is the more notmal hahah lol
5. No, I only use the cell phone to do calls or in extremly to send missatges “sms”
6. No, I can’t descrive it becouse here we don’t have an stereotip, but we are really diferent than the others countrys
What a pity!
Cecs,
It was not necessary to copy the questions again!. Why did you do that?
Cesc,
You’re right when you say we are different from other countries. I see you don’t like wasting your time!
Xavi,
Don’t be so absentminded because mobiles are expensive. You are an expert on mobiles. However, I think there are other devices such as ipods which can be used to listen to music .
What kind of music do you like?
Miriam,
Will you explain me the way of getting the best offers from the different companies? I’m asking you that because I’m always confused about the different offers I get. Thank you!
How are you Georgina?
Aina,
You are a “free spirit”. You say that we can use other ways to communicate. Can you give me one example? Also, you explain that you use the camera of your mobile to take pictures. However, I think that the quality of the pictures are worse than using a normal camera. What do you think?
Marta,
It’s nice to read that your mobile keeps you company. Do you also put your mobile on the table when you are in a bar or restaurant to give the impression you are waiting for a phone call? You are not a phone addict but you enjoy having a mobile. I think that some gadgets are useful to improve our way of living and make our life easier.
You’re right when you say that it would be weird to walk round and see that people are not using their mobiles. However, I’m fed up of overhearing conversation I’m not involved in. What about you?
As all people a few years ago, I’ve lived a little part of my life without that multifunctional, little machine called mobile phone. At first, I didn’t realize what was the reason to have one of them in the pocket all day, but when my parents gave me one for my birthday I started thinking how amazing it was. Since that day my mobile has always been with me, the moments when I got bored and the times when it should have been switched off. Above all, I have to recognize that it’s a really useful invention which lets us to be in touch with all the people we want to be close to. I know that it would be a challenge for me walking through the street without my mobile phone or staying a long period of time without it, because I’ve learned to live with this item so now it would be really difficult to omit it. In this way it may seem that I’m a terrible mobile phone addict, but in my opinion I’m not such a dependent person of its mobile. I hope that if someday I have to live in an isolated place without mobile phone signal, I could survive. Also, I have to say that I haven’t got a specific limit time to change my mobile phone, but it’s true I usually buy a new one when I get bored form the old one. When this happens, the one I’m not going to use goes into the box of “Possible useful mobile phones in the future”. In this box there are only two mobiles for the moment, and I hope soon one of them is going to go on the risky hands of one of my brothers. I’m sure none of them has ever used all the applications a mobile phone has, but neither me. To me, a mobile phone has too many different things to do, and I’m convinced that most of the people don’t use a mobile phone at 100%. Even in Spain, where people use their mobile phone at every time every day. I think the way we use our mobile phone it’s not bad, but perhaps one day we should meditate on it and if we want to start or split up a relationship, we’ll do it face to face!
Hello!!!
I had my first mobile phone when I was 14 years old. In this moment my mobile phone didn’t mean nothing important for me, because I only use to used it for call my parents. But now I use quite all the applications, this is, call every one and send SMS, play games, use the calculator, listening to music, take photos, and I also use Internet in it.
I think that if there weren’t mobile phones, I wouldn’t die, it’s only a help for communicate each other.
I usually change my phone when it’s broken, this is once in two years, more or less.
I also think that I’m not a mobile addict because I could live without it.
The use or the phones in our country is the same, excepting these little things like taping in the floor when is somebody talking by his phone in public transport, and things like that.
Finishing, mobile phones are useful for an emergency, and, sometimes, to spend our time or a moment. And if it hadn’t, the world wouldn’t be ended either.
Take care Buera 😉
Mobile phones are not very important in my life, I use my mobile phone few times in a week, and maybe I can be more than one weeks without using it. I just use it to call when I’m not at home, because if I’m at home I can use the telephone that it’s cheaper.
For this reason, I only change my mobile phone when it’s broken. I have only had two mobile phones, and I don’t care if my mobile phone it’s so antiqued, because I only need it to make calls or to write messages. I don’t need all of the applications that new mobile phones got, like photo or video maker, mp3 player, internet… That’s not very important.
The typical use of mobile phones in Spain is basically to make calls or to write messages, but not so many messages like in Japan. I think that it’s similar to other countries.
por si las moscas! xddd
1- For me the mobil means to be located always, to listen to music and to take photos.
2- Yes but to have mobil helps very much in the life
3- When it breaks or when my brother buy a new mobil he gives the old mobil.
4- I do not use all the applications, only the most basic aplications.
5- I do not consider addict because normally use the mobil at the weekends.
6- In every country using the mobiles of different way but in Spain, normally the people send a messatges and call
1ª For me my mobile isn’t important. I only use it when I need speak with my friends.
2ª Yes, I can, because I use my computer more often than the mobile
3ªI change my mobile once a year. Because I like technology a lot
4ª Not really. I only use message, camara, and MP3.
5ª I don’t think I’m a mobile addict, because I preffer to use the computer, moreover I don’t need to use it very day
6ª The use of mobile in Spain is to spend a lot of money in messages.
My mobilphone is very important for me, I use these machine in anyway! sending sms, calling to friends, surfing on the net, play the n-gage, looking pictures or videos and maybe some videoclip.
If now I don’t have my mobilphone, I’ll try to find some other machines for remplace it. It can be stange, but a talki-walki (of 10km range)for call mymother is the cheapperest way to speak with she, which is only 4kmfar from here, and the PSP can remplace the n-gage, and the discman the mp3, and the camera the multimedia gallery.
If my mobilphone break I’ve to buy another one, but I don’t waste alot of money, because I usually haggle the price and then I get the newone really like free.
And how I said before, I use all the aplications, including the Nokia Maps, the recorder, the videocamera, the camera, the notebook, and another softwares that I installed, like messenger, facebook, fotolog or eBuddy, etc.
I think that I’m not a mobilphone addict, because I only use it outside of home, because into I’ve the computer! but I use it alot outside of course.
Whatever, the people usually use it for send messages and call to somebody, only the 5% of the population (with mobilphone) use all the aplications more or less. If all of these people use all the aplications, they’ll be more tecnologics and more addapted for the future. An important thing for think about it. What will happen if in 20 years all works by informatic and tecnology without paper¿?
Raquel,
I’m convinced you would survive without your mobile. In fact I do. Sometimes, I forget or leave my mobile at home and the feeling of freedom I experince is inexplicable. Where do you place the box for the useful mobiles in the future? I agree with you when you say that there are things that should be done “face to face”.
Thank you for your comments!
Dear Martínez,
I agree with you when you say that mobiles are useful in emergencies. However, they are sometimes quite inappropriate as you know. I see you take advantage of all your mobile applications. Congratulations!!!
Oriol,
I think you’ll be rich. You are right when you say mobiles are very expensive. Nokia and other companies would go bankrupt if we used mobiles as you do.
You are not addicted to your mobile. Congratulations!!!.However, have you got computer games at home? Do you play with them?
Victor,
Por ……mocas: just in case!
You repeated twice your message. I’m overwhelmed. I agree with you when you say mobies make life easier. Just a question: if you use your mobile at the weekends, where is it when you are at school?
Hi Jaume!
For me my mobile means a machine how anything other, but whit infinite functions. I believe that isn’t more necessary. However always is indispensable if you have an accident, be a bind, work in a company, be an executive or the seam situation.
I reality could live without mobile, because I don’t use it much and when I was a child I had not mobile. So now I costumed.
I normally change it each year, not because I like change it, but also because my father get bored of his and change it. So he gives me the old mobile yours.
I don’t use all the applications of my mobile because I have an mp3 and I like use the messenger for send messages, so I alone use my mobile when I have an emergency or like alarm. I think that it useful for urgent calls.
As I said before, it isn’t more important in my live, so I don’t considered me an addict of mobile.
In Spain, the mobile phone is one of the things more important for more people, because the young always do calls or send messages (sms) to his friends, they sometimes watching the film, playing with the games, listening to music player with the mp3 that mobile have incorporate, etc. I believe that is best talk face to face with your friends or family. The use of mobile is different in the other countries.
In my opinion, my mobile phone is an object firstly necessary for be communicate. It also can be used for more uses as listen music, surfing in the net or take photos.
I can imagine my life without a mobile phone perfectly because the humanity lived without mobile phone a lot of years.
I change it every time that I break it for many things as for example swimming with mobile phone in the beach.
Of course that no, I only use it for call, for listen music and for weak up me.
No, because I don’t stay every time thinking about my mobile phone.
In my country, there is typical to use the mobile phone for call anybody in anyplace, for listen to music, for make photos…
First of all I want to say that I’m so sorry because I didn’t answer before.
I consider the mobile phone a tool for comunication, sometimes essential and others unnecessary, but uses it because its near you.
I can live without my mobile phone but when we get used each time
I find the mobile more useful and faster.
I treat very well all the things for this reason I only change my mobile phone when I give it to my little sister.
I’m not a mobile phone addict because I only use the classic applications, send messages and recive calls. Although according to the day I investigate which applications will have my mobile if some day I need use.
In Catalonia according to the age of the person, who uses the mobile, has different usages. For example the teenagers that have seventeen yeras, more or less, only uses the mobile to talk with friends, to meet with them or to owns parents will know where we are. Another example is the people who works in a company uses the mobile to their business.
Finally, I think the thypical use of the mobile doesn’t depend of the country it depends of the person that uses the mobile.
Miguel,
Thank you for your comments. You are right when you say that a mobile is an indispensable device in case of an accident. However, we don’t always have accidents, do we?
I see you recycle your father’s mobiles. There are also alarm clocks than can wake you up.
Finally, I’d like to tell you that mobiles have become an essential gadget for everybody. It is like a treasure that is used everywhere.
Sara,
I think you are right when you say that we sometimes use the mobile because it is next to us as . Mobiles give us a sense of immediacy because we don’t like waiting.
Finally, I agree with you when you say that the usage of the mobile depends more on people’s personality than on countries. However, there are some social rules that regulate some behaviours.
Roger,
You are not old enough to understand the fact that humans lived without mobiles. I say that to you because you have grown up with mobiles and electronic gadgets everywhere. Have you ever gone swimming with your mobile?
Hi Eloi,
You’re an expert! You know how “to squeeze” all the electronic gadgets we use daily. Can you tell me if the mobile invoice is more expensive at the end of the month when using all the facilities that a mobile has? What are the Nokia maps? Can I use them? or Do I need a special phone?
You are a man ready for the future.
Hi Hugo,
You are a computer expert. Do you use your computer for talking to your friends in Cadis? What programme do you use?
I think there is a contradiction in your answers. On the one hand you say you change your mobile once a year because you like techonogy. On the other you say that you only use your mobile to send messages, to take pictures and to listen to music. So, I recommend you to make the most of your mobile!.
For me, my mobile phone is important because I use it to locate me,
listen to music, take photos or videos… But I could imagine living
without my mobile phone. I can’t use the internet in my mobile because
it’s an application very expensive!
I think that I’m not a mobile phone addict because I’m used it for
“necessary moments”.
In my country, we can speak for the mobile in public and this is
different in the other countries.
In conclusoin, every person use their mobile phone in everywhere but
I think that the teenagers are very addicted to sending “sms” a lot of
time,including me.
Gala,
Please show me your mobile because I’d like to have one like yours when I’m lost!. You are right when you say that internet on mobiles is very expensive. The adverts never explain that. I’d like to ask you what do you understand for “necessary moments”. To sum up, you accept that you are addicted to your mobile. Don’t worry you are human!
By the way congratulations!!!!
