Review animals with flashcards.

 

CD 1 track 15. What animal is missing? (zebra)

Correct, have a kid take a flashcard after each time is said.

Classbook page 6 and 7. Play the CD again, repeat animal sounds. Again and sing.

Look at this book from Granny. From what country can it be? Italy, France…?

Take the story card 1.

Look at the letters a, b and c.

Listen and point CD1 track 16.

Read or play CD 1 track 17. Use the story cards.

What animals did you hear?

Do you like the story? Put the three animal flashcards mentioned on the board. Which one is a real story animal? (crocodile)

Lesson 3

Divide the class in two groups. CD1 track 15. One half says the words and the other half makes the sounds.

 

Story time

Do you remember the characters? What are their names? Write on the board Duncan and Esther. Use story cards,  play CD1 track 17. Read along the book.

 

Use storycards 3, 5 and 7. Students look at the question –what’s this?

Use storycards 4, 6 and 8 to answer –it’s a plant. It’s a rock. It’s a crocodile.

Use anumals flashcards. What’s this? It’s a ….

Have some students in front doing the same the teacher was just doing.

Lesson 4

Use anumals flashcards. What’s this? It’s a ….

Guess which one is it. Three chances, if students don’t get it, one point for the teacher.

 

Students will read the story. First listen CD1 track 17.

Ask volunteers to read and act out the story. Voice is important.

Read the story in pairs. Who is more expressive?

Have some pairs come in front of the class. One student reads and the other passes the cards.

 

Use storycards 3, 5 and 7. Students look at the question –what’s this?

Use storycards 4, 6 and 8 to answer, is it a… no –it’s a plant. It’s a rock. It’s a crocodile.

Have some students in front doing the same the teacher was just doing.

Lesson 5

Use poster and flashcards. Say the animals and point them out. Another student puts the flashcards in order.

 

Use storycards to present new vocabulary. Storycard 3, what’s this? Is it a snake? Do the same for the other storycards.

Book page 10, look for plants, rocks and tree.

CD1 track 19, listen and point.

Listen again and say.

 

Display flashcards on board. Ask what’s this? (it’s an elephant). Where is it? In the trees? (no) In the grass. Do the same with the rest of the animals from the classbook.

 

CD1 track 20. Listen and follow. Listen and repeat.

Lesson 6

Write a list of all the animals you know within your group. One individual come up front and write the names. The group with more animals wins.

 

CD1 track 21. Listen. What animals are in the song? Use the song poster. Where are the monkeys? Listen again… Monkeys are in the river.

Point Mr. Crocodile, he is hungry.

Open your books page 11, listen again and sing.

 

CD1 track 22, listen and point, listen again and say.

 

Draw a line on the blackboard. Two columns (one for the sound U and one for the sound O). Lunch, which column is it? U or O? Do the same for hungry, mother, one, colour, fun, something.

 

CD1 track 23. Listen and look, listen again and say.

 

Groups of 3. Narrator, Duncan and Esther. Cd1 track 17 (follow the story on pages 8 and 9). Ask groups to come up front and act.

When each group finishes their act, play CD1 track 21.
