Spy Cat Story
WANT SOMETHING TO DO NOW? Task 1 In this story Spycat has to read coded messages to find Ratty. The messages are in two different codes: 1. The letters in a word are jumbled up. For example, OG OT GYEPT = GO TO EGYPT 2. The message is written in symbols, and not letters. Each symbol represents a different letter. Can you invent a code based on symbols? Draw a symbol for each letter of the alphabet. Write messages to your friend (give them a copy of the code!) Task 2 There are 2 codes in the story, but people can use other codes. Here are some other codes: 1. Using numbers instead of letters: A=1, B=2, C=3 etc 2. Writing backwards, for example OLLEH = HELLO 3. Read every second letter, for example, NAME = NEASMOE 4. Reverse the alphabet: A=Z, B=Y, C=W etcChoose one of these codes and write a message to a friend. Tell them what the code is – or see if they can work it out! |
