CONTENTS

Session 1

Warming up!
After introducing the session we will explain to the students that the main goal of unit 1 is to learn how to describe ourselves.
Activity 1.
The children must watch the song and listen to the audio file, paying attention to how the words are pronounced. Then they have to write the adjectives in their notebook beside a drawing which will help them to understand the meaning. The purpose is to create a “visual dictionary” which we’ll be completing throughout the course.

Session 2

My Daily Routines
We will explain to the students that one way of talking about ourselves is expressing our daily habits or routines.
First, we will show the video What do you do everyday? to introduce the subject and then we will explain the main uses of the present simple in the daily routines.
To deepen their knowledge of the subject the students will have to do the following PDI activities: Susan’s Daily Routine game and the JCLIC game “Daily routines“.
Finally we will put together all the information and review the present simple formation with Ryan’s typical day game.

Session 3

My family
In this sequence I will focus on the family. The main purpose is to recognise the family members, as well as the roles they play.
To introduce the vocabulary, we will develop a game called “Speaking With the family“, using flashcards as a scaffolding tool. First, the students will repeat the vocabulary aloud, imitating the teacher and eventually they will have to guess the word just looking at the image.
To deepen their knowledge of the subject the students will practise the subject with the Open Sankoré activity included in this blog called ” Our family“.
As a conclusion, we will sing and learn the The family song:

Session 4

Clothing
This session is focused on clothing. As an introduction the kids will find a clothing poster where they can find and learn the main vocabulary. After looking at the words the teacher will encourage the students to repeat the vocabulary aloud.
Another class activity to introduce the lesson consists of talking about what they are wearing, comparing their clothing.
“What are you wearing today”? “I’m wearing….”
“What are your friends wearing today”? “Anna / she / he / is wearing….”
After learning the meaning of the new words, the students can strengthen their memory by singing the songs suggested in the unit. They’ll be able to practise them as much as they want by clicking on the links.
As a consolidation activity, the blog has a link to a website which includes several activities about the subject, covering the four main skills (listening, writing, speaking and reading).

Session 5

Have got
In this session we will work on the grammar construction I + HAVE + GOT / I + HAVEN’T + GOT as a tool in physical descriptions.
Grammar point:

Have-and-Have-Got-forms

Useful examples of the structure to describe people and physical characteristics:
Carol has brown eyes.
Carol’s got brown eyes.
He doesn’t have blond hair.
He hasn’t got blond hair.
Does your sister have long hair?
Has your sister got long hair?
The whole session will focus on the understanding and comprehension of the grammar structure. The blog will provide some useful examples to complement the teacher’s explanation.

Session 6

Free time
In order to continue deepening into personal descriptions, this session will focus on leisure time.
The teacher will explain the concept using the vocabulary posted on the blog as an example. After explaining the meaning of the words and solving any doubts, the kids will be able to expand their knowledge by practising on-line.

Session 7
