Fou una cantant afroamericana de Memphis especialitzada en els estils góspel i soul, coneguda com la Reina del Soul. En l’any 1987, es converteix en la primera dona a entrar al Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (museu americà dedicat al record i memòria dels artistes més famosos i influents implicats en la indústria de la música, amb especial focus en el Rock and Roll.
Va morir l’any pasat a Detroit.

Any de llançament de l’àlbum: 1968 “Aretha now”.
Nominacions: Premi Grammy a la Millor Interpretació Vocal Pop Femenina.
